D-5/10/20 patches
These files are simply raw MIDI system exclusive data. Cakewalk 4.0 was
used to create them, but the getit30 program can be used to upload and
download them as well, and so can midimenu. See /midi/software/ibmpc for
getit30.arc, and/or read midimenu.doc.
To put a patch or timbre on your synth using Cakewalk, View the system
eXclusive window, then lOad and Send one of these files. The synth should have
its MIDI exclusive unit number set to 17 (default power-up value).
[DANGER: IF YOU HAVE A D-20 WITH ROM REVISION LEVEL < 1.03, THEN BE SURE TO
PUT THE D-20 IN THE "ONE-WAY BULK RECEIVE ALL DATA TRANSFER" MODE BEFORE
SENDING A DUMP FILE. A fatal crash may result otherwise. The only way
to reset a fatal crash is to remove or temporarily short out the internal
battery. Go to a service center for a ROM upgrade, or, if you are technically
competant, call Roland to arrange a free ROM exchange yourself.]
To transmit a patch or timbre on your synth using getit30, just say
"getit30 t". It will then ask for the file name.
To create files of your own with Cakewalk, View the system eXclusive
window, then Receive. With getit30, just say "getit30 r".
To create a file of all patches and timbres on your synth, use the
D-20 buttons to Data Transfer a One-way Bulk Dump.
To create a file of just one patch, be in the Performance mode, use the
MIDI button to turn on MIDI Patch Dump, then use the bank keys to
select the desired patch bank.
To create a file of just one timbre, be in the Multi-Timbral mode, use
the MIDI button to turn on MIDI Timbre Dump, be in the Part Display window
(not the Keyboard display) then use the bank keys to select the desired timbre
bank. (Thus, the timbre should be sent on MIDI exclusive unit 17.)
All files should have a .syx extension. The letter before the period should
be t for single timbres, p for single patches, and d for full dumps.
