This file answers some of the most frequently asked questions concerning The Galaxy Music Player : Q: I'm using SoundBlaster 2.0+ 44 Khz mode, but sound just stops sometimes ? A: I know, somehow SoundBlaster 2.0+ High Speed DMA is *VERY* touchy, so If it doesn't work too well, just use 22 Khz mode and GLX will use the old SoundBlaster DMA, which works perfectly well with any program. Q: PAS support is doing REALLY strange on my system, what's up ? A: I don't exactly know what's the problem, but try using all configurations and by the way only 8 Bit DMA channels, 0-3, are supported ! ---- Q: Hey, my system is doing FUNNY, what's the prob ? A: Could be an Upper Memory Block conflict, use /UMB to disable UMB usage ____ Q: Hmm, UMB usage ? Doesn't work with my system ! A: I had the same problem when I had this line in my CONFIG.SYS : DOS=HIGH Now it's impossible for DOS to use the UMB's in the memory list. So if you want to use your UMB's to-the-max put this line in your CONFIG.SYS and LOAD an EMS/XMS Driver : DOS=HIGH,UMB ---- Q: Are you going to release an object-module for C/Pascal/Assembler ? A: Yope, it's for sure now and it'll be a commericial module. ---- Q: How about supporting protected mode for 80386+ ? A: Well, check out GLX32 (also in the archive) which will only run on a 80386 or better with at least 1 Mb of extended memory and it'll use ALL the available (extended) memory ;-)) ---- Q: When are you going to support XMS ? A: Hmm, when I have time left, not ! ---- Q: Hey, why is GUS replay so slow ? A: There's running a 22 Khz mono mixer too, for spectrum analyzer data. ---- Q: My system is rebooting after I've started GLX, what's up? A: I think you're running Soft-ICE, the built in ANTI-Debugging engine of GLX detects if Soft-ICE is present and if so reboots your system, so in order to fix this problem, just remove Soft-ICE
