FreeDOS programs

You can reach these items from James Hall's Maintainers List. To the best of my knowledge, these all work correctly on 8086/8088 systems.

Locate v1.31, 2003-12-09 (Free) General purpose file-finder for DOS and Windows 9x. A86 source. Some features may not work correctly under FreeDOS.
Locate v1.25d, 1998-09-30 (Free) General purpose file-finder with A86 source. This is an older release for FreeDOS compatibility.
Deltree v1.02e, 2003-06-22 (GPL) Terror of files and destroyer of subdirectories. NASM source.
Cal v1.07, 1998-08-12 (Free) Low-fat calendar. Display monthly or yearly calendars for Gregorian years 1753 through 2399. A86 source.
Cmos v1.00, 1999-05-05 (GPL) Utility to save and restore CMOS memory on older PCs. A86 source.
SwitChar v1.00a, 1998-08-13 (GPL) Get or set the DOS switch character, even on DOS versions which don't support the SwitChar API. A86 source.

Alternate

Many of these overlap existing programs. All are freeware. Most include source. These may not work correctly under FreeDOS, or on 8086/8088-based computers.

Attrib v1.09b, 2001-01-01 (GPL) Change attributes. NASM source.
Payday v1.04, 1999-03-27 (Free) No-fat calendar :-)
Touch v1.08d, 2003-10-05 (GPL) Change files' date and time stamps. Now FreeDOS and 8086 compatible. NASM source.
ChkSum v1.04a, 2000-04-24 (GPL) Display CRC32 and XDIR checksums of files. 8086 compatible. NASM source.
Mdir v1.05b, 2001-08-11 (Free) Microsoft-ish directory lister for users of non-Microsoft DOSses. FreeDOS and 8086 compatible.
Ej v1.04, 2003-07-01 (GPL) Eject CD-ROM tray. NASM source.
4DbgHelp release 2004-04-25 (GPL) 4DOS 7.50 /Y helper utility; run AUTOEXEC.BAT in the 4DOS batch debugger. A86 source.
