6309 Microprocessor Enhancements for - TRS-80 Colour Computer 3 Emulator

T
he 6309 Microprocessor Enhancements Project is underway...

I have begun to explore the possibilities of updating Jeff Vavasour's Coco3 emulator to run a 6309 microprocessor chip.  Already I have progressed a fair amount, when you consider the work needed to undertake such a project.  First I have to become completely familiar with the source code I wish to alter.  Once I have understood the source code, I will begin to enhance the code while staying inside the parameters of the original source code.  I will try to keep the same coding style, close as I can to the original style of source code.

Since I began this project Jeff's coco3x emulator has gone through significant changes. See the info text file for changes the emulator has gone through. The project help page can be seen here.  It shows and explains the new additions to Jeff's TRS-80 COLOUR COMPUTER 3 Emulator. If you like to have the last Windows Help File made for the project click here.

The 6309 Monitor and Debug Facility now supports the new 6309 Registers, Mode Register and Disassembly of the new instructions.  Plus additionally there is an options register and a new GIME command.

The DSKINI and RETRIEVE programs have gone through enhancements.

USING THE DISK IMAGES...

If you wish to transfer the disk images to a 5.25" floppy disk for use with a real CoCo, follow the steps below:

WINDOWS 9x, Me or MS-DOS...

1. Download and install the latest version of
1. DSKINI/RETRIEVE
2. Insert a blank 5.25" DS floppy in to your drive
2. (we assume B:)
3. Type the following command,
3. replacing the name of the image:

3. DSKINI /T40 /D B: <diskimagefile>

Where <diskimagefile> is the image file you want to transfer to the floppy disk. The image file transfer should start. When it is done, take out the disk and try booting your CoCo with it.

Repeat steps 2-3 for each additional disk.
