SERIAL NUMBERS
This page is under construction. You have been warned.
In the Quarterdeck software you download from this site, there is a KEY file whose first line contains a valid serial number.
Go back to the main page to see which disks contain KEY files.
For third party software, we cannot suggest where to find any serial number or other validation information. Try Google or Yahoo searches if necessary.
A typical Quarterdeck serial number looks like this:
000-vvv-0000
The middle part is a product code that is specific to the software name and version. It also contains information about where the disk was made.
The sum of the digits, meaning you exclude the product code (middle part) in the above example, must end with 9. All addition drops the carry digit.
Examples and comments:
900-vvv-0000
000-vvv-0009
These two should be self explanatory. Both are perfectly valid.
180-vvv-0000
One plus eight equals nine.
534-vvv-7686
Five plus three equals eight, plus four equals two (because the carry digit is dropped), plus seven equals nine, plus six equals five, plus eight equals three, plus six equals nine.
