SECTION VI DESCRIPTION OF AUTOCAD DRIVERS The Graphics Solution includes an ADI driver that allows AutoCAD to run with a Graphics Solution on an RGB color monitor at 640x200 resolution in 16 colors. The ADI driver was written by ATI Technologies Inc. for use with AutoCAD release 2.50 or later on an IBM PC, XT or AT. It provides the same functionality and performance as device drivers distributed with AutoCAD, however ATI supports the driver, not Autodesk. The ADI driver, GSACAD.EXE, adheres to the color coding as presented in the AutoCAD manual. The color coding is summarized as follows: 0 - Black (Background) 8 - Grey 1 - Red 9 - Light Red 2 - Yellow-Brown 10 - Light Yellow 3 - Green 11 - Light Green 4 - Cyan 12 - Light Cyan 5 - Blue 13 - Light Blue 6 - Magenta 14 - Light Magenta 7 - White 15 - White (High Intensity) SECTION VII INSTALLATION OF AUTOCAD DRIVERS SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 1. GSACAD requires a system in the color configuration, i.e. the Graphics Solution must be configured for the Color/Graphics Default Mode and an RGB Color Monitor. 2. Do not attempt to use the GSACAD on a monochrome monitor. To use a Graphic Solution with AutoCAD on a monochrome monitor re-configure AutoCAD with the AutoCAD Hercules driver. The Hercules mode offers a higher resolution of 720x348 as opposed to the 640x200 16 colors offered by ATI. 3. Systems with 512K or less, must have AutoLISP disabled. INSTALLATION 1. Follow the instructions for configuring AutoCAD in Appendix D in the AutoCAD User Reference. Also, see the AutoCAD Drafting Package Installation Guide for general information on using AutoCAD with the IBM PC and various peripherals. If you are using an IBM PC "work-alike," be sure to read Chapter 8 of the AutoCAD Installation Guide. 2. Copy GSACAD.EXE to the disk used to run AutoCAD. If AutoCAD is run from a floppy disk this would be done by placing the Graphics Solution Disk in Drive A, and the AutoCAD disk in Drive B and typing, A>COPY A:GSACAD.EXE B: [enter] If AutoCAD is run from a hard disk, then GSACAD.EXE must be copied onto the AutoCAD directory on the hard disk. This can be done by placing the Graphics Solution Disk in Drive A: and typing, A>COPY A:GSACAD.EXE C:\ACAD [enter] 3. To begin operation of AutoCAD, at the DOS prompt of the disk used to run AutoCAD type, GSACAD [enter] 4. The first time AutoCAD is run with the ATI ADI driver, it is necessary to configure AutoCAD for the ADI display. To do this, a) At the AutoCAD Main Menu, select Configure AutoCAD. (If AutoCAD was not previously configured, the program will be automatically put into the configuration process when AutoCAD is started). b) From the Configuration Menu, select Option Number 1 - ADI Display vx.xx. The menu selection for the ADI display must say v2.0 (or higher). If this menu option is not shown, check to see that the new drivers (files with extension .DRV) from the AutoCAD Driver Update Disk are installed. (The AutoCAD Driver Update Disk is available from any Authorized AutoCAD Dealer). c) Follow the remaining configuration questions as detailed in the AutoCAD User Reference. 5. To begin operation of AutoCAD, at the DOS prompt of the disk used to run AutoCAD type, GSACAD [enter] NOTE: The ADI GSACAD driver uses software interrupt 7A. This is the default for ADI display drivers and can be confirmed by pressing ENTER at the display option configuration prompt: Hexadecimal interrupt code (INT 0XXh) <7A>: If a different interrupt code is required , such as when AutoCAD is running under a NOVELL network, type GSACAD xx [enter] where xx is the new interrupt code in hexadecimal, and config the Autocad ADI Display Driver to have same interrupt code. The IBM Technical Reference Manual for the AT states that software interrupts 78h to 7Fh and F1 to FF inclusive are non-reserved. You may have to experiment with different interrupts to avoid conflicts with other software that you are running. SECTION VIII DESCRIPTION OF 132 COLUMN SCREEN PRINTING UTILITY A utility has been provide which allows the user to use the screen dump feature of their PC's while in the 132 column mode. This is a terminate and stay resident program which means that once it has been executed, it will remain in memory and availible until the system is reset or rebooted. It is fully compatible with the 80 column modes as well as 132 column mode. No provision has been made in the utility for activating compressed type in the printer. If you are using a IBM compatible dot-matix printer you may be able to use the DOS MODE command to configure the printer for compressed type. INSTALLATION: To install the screen printing utility, type: PRT132 To switch the printer into compressed mode, if you are using a dot- matix printer connected to LPT1, type: MODE LPT1: 132 Consult your DOS manual or your printer manual if you are using a different configuration. The classic way to break into technology-based markets is with dazzling innovations, leapfrogging the best the competition has to offer. Using VLSI technology techniques, originally developed for space age and avionics applications, ATI's strategy was to use this emerging technology to develop graphics products which would allow computer users maximum flexibility when operating a PC. VLSI technology would be ATI's gateway to solving the mysteries of complicated graphics standards. With the introduction of the GRAPHICS SOLUTION in 1985, ATI Technologies of Toronto, Ontario, quickly became known as the market innovator of the graphics industry. Nicknamed the "Small Wonder", the GRAPHICS SOLUTION combined the video functions of 4 previous graphics cards to display information and various standards in a very simple and straight-forward manner. Becoming a standard with leading PC manufacturers for 132 column spreadsheets, ATI positioned itself as a growing force in the industry. A credit to the advanced technology of ATI engineers. Using their innovative technology, ATI zoomed onstage yet again with the phenomenal EGA WONDER. EGA WONDER is now the top selling EGA card due to some simple reasons. Without switching or having to take a system apart, without having to identify one resolution from another, without having to use specific monitors for specific programs, EGA WONDER runs ANY SOFTWARE on ANY MONITOR at ANY TIME. EGA WONDER represents a new concept in graphics because it allows upgrade to EGA yet maintains downward compatibility to older standards on any monitor. Keeping pace with market developments, EGA WONDER now supports 800x560 high resolution and VGA standards on MultiSync monitors. ATI Technologies demonstrated its leadership in graphics with the development of superior products. This involves opportunity and responsibility. ATI accepts the challenge that responsibility brings and enjoys the opportunity to be the innovator in the graphics industry. ATI is dedicated to remain on the cutting edge of markets and technology to ensure long term growth and stability.
