INSTALLING THEdit

Installation is performed using the supplied SETUP.EXE program.

If you received THEdit on floppy disk, execute A:SETUP.EXE on the disk
using File|Run from the Program Manager menu.

If you downloaded THEdit from a BBS in a ZIP archive, unzip it to a
temporary directory and execute SETUP.EXE using File|Run from the
Program Manager menu.

The file CTL3D.DLL will be copied to your Windows directory if you DO
NOT already have one.  The files thedit.ini and winlaser.ini will be
placed in your Windows directory.  WinGrep will add the file wgrep.ini
to your Windows directory the first time it is started.  All other files
will be put in the directory you specified in the setup program.  The
group THEDIT.GRP will be created by the setup program with icons for
THEDIT.EXE, WINLASER.EXE and WGREP.EXE.

The SETUP.EXE program works with the Program Manager (progman.exe) to
do the install.  If you have a custom program manager, the installation
of the program group and associated icons may fail.  If so, simply add
the three programs THEDIT.EXE, WINLASER.EXE and WGREP.EXE as specified
by your program manager.

An example profile.the can be found in the THEdit directory (profile.eg).
Copy or rename this file to profile.the if you prefer to customize the
display colors or keyboard behavior.
