From the 1-2-3 directory on your hard disk type INSTALL ...then . NOTE: Make sure you have copied the WYSIWYG program to your hard disk during the 1-2-3 installation. The following procedures will vary slightly if you have not yet completed the Lotus Install program's "First-Time Installation". We recommend that you complete the First- Time Installation without installing printers, then follow the steps below to modify your installation and set up your DeskJet 500C. 2. Highlight "Change Selected Equipment" ...then press . 3. Highlight "Add New Drivers to the Library" ...then press . 4. Insert the "HP DeskJet 500C Color Driver Disk" into one of your floppy disk drives, then type the drive letter (A or B) when prompted by "Specify the disk drive for the drivers disk:" ...then press . 5. Press any key to complete the installation. &d1D(s3BEstablishing Printer Default Settings&d@(s0B After running the Lotus Install program, you must select your printer default settings. If you will be using WYSIWYG to format spreadsheets, you'll need to select printer defaults in both 1-2-3 native mode and in the WYSIWYG add-in program. (s3B 1-2-3 Native Mode(s0B To select printer default settings in 1-2-3 native mode: 1. Begin 1-2-3. 2. Select /, W(Worksheet), G(Global), D(Default), P(Printer), I(Interface), 1(Parallel 1) ...assuming you're using a parallel interface. 3. Make the following printer default settings; Select A(AutoLF)...then select N(No). Select L(Left margin). Type 0, then press . Select R(Right margin). Type 80, then press . Select T(Top margin). Type 0, then press . Select B(Bottom margin). Type 0, then press . Select P(Pg-Length). Type 60, then press . Select W(Wait)...then select N(No). Select S(Setup). Verify that there is no setup string (blank), then press . Select N(Name). Use the arrow keys to select the type of printing you want to do. The "HP DeskJet+ and 500 portrait" or "HP DeskJet+ and 500 landscape" drivers will provide black printing. (s3B WYSIWYG Mode(s0B To select printer default settings in the WYSIWYG add-in program: 1. From 1-2-3, start WYSIWYG. If you do not have WYSIWYG setup to automatically load, do the following; Simultaneously press the Alt and F10 keys. Select A(Attach). Use the arrow keys to select "WYSIWYG.ADN", then press . Select a function key to use with WYSIWYG (or choose No-key). Select Q(Quit). 2. Select ":" to invoke the WYSIWYG command-line. 3. Select P(Print), C(Configuration), P(Printer). 4. Use the arrow keys to select "HP DeskJet 500C Paper", "HP DeskJet 500C Transparency", "HP DeskJet+, 500 High Density" (black ink printing at 300dpi) or "HP DeskJet+, 500 Low Density" (black ink printing at 150dpi). Press after you've made your printer driver selection. 5. Select I(Interface) and choose the interface port you're connected to. NOTE: We recommend that you use one of the parallel printer ports for color printing. Printing may take much longer when using one of the serial ports. 6. Select O(Orientation), and choose either the P(Portrait) or L(Landscape) mode. 7. Select Q(Quit), Q(Quit). &d1D(s3BUsing Your Printer in WYSIWYG Mode&d@(s0B The fonts available in WYSIWYG depend on whether you generated Basic, Medium, or Extended fonts in the Lotus Install program. HP DeskJet 500 font cartridges and internal fonts (except Courier) are not supported in 1-2-3 Native Mode or WYSIWYG. However, WYSIWYG (as shipped) includes the typefaces Swiss, Dutch, and XSymbol. NOTE: It is possible to select the HP DeskJet 500C internal Courier or Letter Gothic typefaces using printer commands from a S(Setup) string, or embedded in the worksheet using the "||" command while in the 1-2-3 Native Mode. Refer to your 1-2-3 documentation for more information on how to send printer escape sequence commands. To select a font in WYSIWYG; 1. Select ":", F(Format), F(Font). 2. Use the left/right arrow keys to select a font, then press . 3. Use the arrow keys to specify a range where you want the font applied, then press . (s3B Using Color in WYSIWYG;(s0B Colored text and graphics can only be obtained by using the DeskJet 500C printer with the color ink cartridge installed. Black text and graphics will print as "composite" black when the color ink cartridge is installed. 1. Select ":", F(Format), C(Color), T(Text). 2. Select a color from the list of choices. 3. Use the arrow keys to specify a range where you want the color applied, then press . Select P(Printer), then use the arrow keys to select either "HP DeskJet 500C Paper" or "HP DeskJet 500C Transparency". Press after you have made your choice. 4. Select Q(Quit). 5. Select G(Go) to print the selected range of your worksheet. NOTE: Only those portions of your worksheet which have been specified as being color (including text, numbers, borders) will be printed in color. Anything else will be printed in "composite" black. Select ":", P(Print), R(Range), S(Set), then indicate the range of the worksheet you want printed. Then, press . 3. If the current printer default is not set to "HP DeskJet,+ and 500 High Density", select C(Config), P(Printer), then use the arrow keys to select "HP DeskJet,+ and 500 High Density", then press . If you would like to print at 150dpi (draft), select the "HP DeskJet,+ and 500 Low Density" printer name. 4. Select Q(Quit). 5. Select G(Go), P(Page), Q(Quit). If P(Page) is not specified, the last page of your spreadsheet will not print. (s3B Printing in Landscape Orientation;(s0B Landscape printing is an internal feature of the HP DeskJet 500C printer. No landscape cartridge is required. 1. Select ":", P(Print), C(Config), O(Orientation), L(Landscape), Q(Quit). 2. Select L(Layout), P(Page-Size), C(Custom). 3. Enter the paper width as 7. 4. Enter the paper length as 10. NOTE: Printing errors will occur (printed output will be split at the top and bottom of the page) if values greater than 7" x 10" are used. 4. Select Q(Quit). 5. Select G(Go), P(Page), Q(Quit). If P(Page) is not specified, the last page of your spreadsheet will not print. &d1D(s3BMiscellaneous Notes&d@(s0B 1. Graphics and ASCII text cannot be combined on the same page. 2. Color graphics will print on either paper or transparencies. 3. For normal (portrait orientation) printing, the Paper Bin setting should be set to "Single-Sheet" for correct graphics imaging. Select ":", P(Print), C(Config), B(Bin), S(Single-Sheet), Q(Quit), Q(Quit). 4. For landscape orientation printing, make sure you set the page-size to 7" x 10" (as stated above under "Printing in Landscape Orientation"). 5. Printed colors may not match those selected from within the WYSIWYG color palette in graphics edit mode. WYSIWYG allows you to choose from a graphic palette of 224 colors or 16 text colors. These colors may be viewed on screen. However, only a subset of these colors can actually be printed from the application. 6. Lotus Printgraph exhibits a problem where some colors may not print correctly. For example, a blue bar in a chart may print in white (clear). Changing the "Range colors" may correct the problem.E
