T1108 ODI NetWare 386 server driver installation for NetWare 3.11 Novell NetWare 386 Server Driver Netware 3.11 installation 1. To use TR2K386.LAN on a Novell NetWare server, first install the network hardware appropriate to your system. Load the Novell NetWare 386 software. 2. Next, run the Novell NetWare Install program and edit the STARTUP.NCF file as follows: Set maximum physical receive packet size=4202 NOTE: The TR2K386.LAN file and Novell NetWare 386 MUST match maximum packet size parameters for token ring only; otherwise, you may receive a memory allocation error. 3. If the server 16 megabytes or more of RAM, include the following lines in the STARTUP.NCF file as well: Set reserved buffers below 16 meg=64 4. After a workstation is logged onto the server, copy the following Novell NetWare 386 modules to diskette and then to the \SYSTEM directory on the SYS: volume from the local workstation drive: TR2K386.LAN LSLENH.NLM PATCHMAN.NLM TOKENTSM.NLM -and- MSM.NLM (NetWare will automatically check this directory when loading modules.) The files LSLENH.NLM, PATCHMAN.NLM, TOKENTSM.NLM, and MSM.NLM are provided by Novell, but currently are being made available on the driver diskette. NOTE: If you plan to load Novell's MONITOR.NLM, make certain the version is 1.72 or later. Prior versions are incompatible with these modules, and will cause the server to hang. 5. The TR2K386 driver must be loaded from the file server console before using the adapter, as in the following sequence: server load lslenh (which automatically loads PATCHMAN.NLM) load TR2K386 BELOW16 (which automatically loads TOKENTSM.NLM and the MSM.NLM modules, which are necessary for the 3.1 ODI specifications on both Novell NetWare 3.X and 4.X) 6. To load the TR2K386 Driver, type: LOAD [path]LSLENH LOAD [path]TR2K386 [options] The command format for TR2K386.LAN is as follows: LOAD [path]TR2K386 PORT=# INT=# [optional parameters] [path] the path to the location of the driver PORT=# the I/O port of the adapter INT=# the interrupt of the adapter Optional parameters for the T1108 386 server driver are: NODE=# Allows user to over-ride BIA (Burned in Address) and specify node address with valid, unique, 12 digit hexadecimal address between 0 and 7h. WS0 Initializes zero wait state pseudo DMA BIT16 Initializes sixteen bit pseudo DMA SPEED=# Sets the card for a particular speed (4 or 16 Mbps) (Default: 16 Mbps) Token Ring only. MAX_PACKET_SIZE=# Defines the maximum packet size (default: 4202) Token Ring only. BELOW16 Needed if server has more than 16 megabytes of RAM. (Novell parameter). NOTE: WS0 and BIT16 are mutually exclusive. However, you will need to specify DMA=FF for either one of these parameters to take effect. For more information on loading LAN drivers see the "Novell NetWare Version 3.x/4.x System Administration" manual.
