******* Install Windows NT 3.5 ATAPI Driver (IDE CDROM Support) ****** This driver is for Windows NT version 3.5x. It does not support NT 3.1. Use this driver if you want to support an ATAPI device such as a CD-ROM under NT 3.5. The driver is provided on the diskette of your EIDE4030PLUS package. Please follow the steps below to install the Windows NT 3.5 driver: (This driver support ATAPI devices connected to the ISA-IDE port of the EIDE4030Plus) Promise Technology Inc. IDE ATAPI Cache Adapter Driver Installation ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. From the Program Manager, double click on "Windows NT Setup" icon in the Main group. 2. Select "Options/Add/Remove SCSI Adapters..." 3. Click on "Add" then a warning dialogbox will appear. Click "OK". 4. The "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialog will appear; select "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" from the "Adapter:" list box. 5. Next, the "Insert Diskette" dialogbox will appear; insert the Promise driver disk into Drive A: and type "A:\" into dialogbox. 6. Next, the "Select OEM Option" dialogbox will appear; select "Promise Technology Inc. IDE ATAPI Cache Adapter" and click "OK". 7. Next the "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialogbox will appear; click on the "Install" button in the dialogbox. 8. If installation is successful, the "SCSI Adapter Setup" dialogbox will reappear, and "Promise Technology Inc. IDE ATAPI Cache Adapter" will be listed as an installed driver. 9. Reboot your system to load the Promise Cache IDE ATAPI driver. ***** Installing the Driver During Windows NT 3.5x Installation ***** (Note: Follow these steps if you would like to install the EIDE4030Plus NT 3.5 driver at the same time as installing the NT 3.5 operating system. If you have already installed NT 3.5, then please follow the instructions above) To install Windows NT using this adapter: 1. Copy all files from the \NT35 directory on the EIDE4030Plus driver disk, including TXTSETUP.OEM, OEMSETUP.INF, PTIATAPI.SYS and \DISK1.NT to a blank formatted floppy in drive A:\. 2. Boot the computer with the Boot Floppy included with Windows NT. 3. If booting to DOS and then installing from a CD-ROM, don't run WINNT /b. You can only run WINNT. 4. Press ENTER to install Windows NT. 5. Select Custom Setup. Please read your Windows NT manual on Custom Setup. 6. Select Skip hardware detect. 7. After Windows NT scans for SCSI adapters, press "S" to add an adapter. 8. Select "Other (requires disk provided by hardware manufacturer)". 9. Insert the floppy disk that was made in step 1 into drive A: and press ENTER. 10. Follow the normal Custom Setup installation procedure.
