This document details turning on the DLYESP bit using DSP Tool’s generic mode page editor. 1. Connect drive to any DOS based PC system which has an installed and operating ASPI device driver. (ASPI is the Advanced SCSI Programming Interface, and drivers are provided for most SCSI host adapters by the controller manufacturer or your operating system.) 2. Install DSPtools from your DSPtools diskette or archive into a directory on the PC’s hard disk, either SCSI or IDE. 3. When the install is complete, change to the directory in which you installed DSPTOOLS. 4. Invoke DSPtools by typing DSP. 5. The screen will display a disclaimer, and behind it a tool bar across the top of the screen. Clear the disclaimer by typing esc or clicking in the upper left corner. 6. From the toolbar, select setup. From the setup menu, select select/show. 7. Select the drive (by its SCSI ID) that you wish to update. 8. From the toolbar, select setup. select protection. 9. turn protection off. (uncheck the box) At this point, the bottom of the screen will show the drive ID, Inquiry name, and code version of the drive you have selected, and a notation that protection is off. 10. From the tool bar select ModePages. 11. Select View/Edit 12. Select Generic Page Viewer 13. Enter page number 25 14. The display will show a series of 16 rows (up and down) labeled 00 through F0, and 16 hexadecimal 2 digit characters in each row (left to right). Move the cursor to row 10, and change as follows: NOTE: The values in byte 3 and 4 (05 02) in the example below may be different than what is displayed by your specific drive. This is normal, and does not affect the operation you are performing. The screen will go back to the toolbar. 16. Select Mode Pages. 17. Select Save Pages. 18. Exit DSPTOOLS by entering alt-x
