(C) Copyright International Computers Limited 1992. VCOMP readme file VCOMP.EXE switches the ATI28800 chip registers in ICL NVGA2i, HRA and FDA display adapters into standard VGA compatibility mode allowing video memory to be used as system memory extension. VCOMP.EXE features ------------------ Command line format: VCOMP ON or VCOMP OFF - If any other parameters are given, the program will give an error message and help for the correct ones. Also if no parameters are given, the help text will be shown. - No VGA or ICL extension modes are supported when VCOMP is in effect (only standard VGA support). - If trying to use the VCOMP with other display adapters than NVGA2i, HRA or FDA, the program will give an error message. Comments when using VIDRAM system memory extender: - You should start the VCOMP before starting VIDRAM - i.e. if VIDRAM is started in AUTOEXEC.BAT the VCOMP ON line should be before the line starting VIDRAM. - You should disable the VCOMP option by running VCOMP OFF after disabling VIDRAM, if you like to use any other video modes than standard VGA. - The VCOMP program is not a TSR prgram, so it does not occupy / reserve your PC memory. VIDRAM is part of the QEMM-386 product, by Quarterdeck.
