Adapter diagnostics v1.02 Running diagnostics on Intel's EtherExpress(TM) PRO/100 Smart adapter ===================================================================== Intel's diagnostic software (SETUP.EXE) lets you test the adapter to see if there are any problems with the adapter hardware, the cabling, or the network. SETUP.EXE is a DOS program and will not run under Windows* or Windows NT*, even in a DOS session. You must boot with DOS to run SETUP.EXE. You will also be able to view your adapter's configuration with SETUP.EXE. It's a good idea to run diagnostics every time you install an adapter. You can also use diagnostics to isolate problems during troubleshooting. 1 Restart your computer without loading drivers. 2 Insert the Intel Configuration and Drivers diskette into a drive, switch to that drive, and at the DOS prompt, type: SETUP If you have more than one adapter installed, a Board Menu appears. Select the adapter you want to test. 3 From the Main Menu, select Test Adapter. 4 From the Test Adapter Menu, select Test Adapter. This runs a series of tests that make sure the adapter is functioning properly. It also runs tests that make sure the cabling, connector, and network are functioning properly. If a test finds a problem, it displays the results and possible solutions. You can also run a continuous network test or set up your computer as a network responder. 5 Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 for each EtherExpress PRO/100 Smart adapter installed in the computer. * Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
