@2{ABOUT THE ULTIMATE DMC GOLD RELEASE @3 }By Andy Gibson @1 Welcome to DMC (disk mag creator) 1995 version for the Amiga computer(s). @4 This is a special release of DMC and instead of just a few updates to the code, as with most titles, I have went one step further and added loads of new features to the program. @3 For those of you who have never used DMC before, you will take it all for granted. Any previous users will certainly be amazed at how much DMC has progressed since its first release back in June/July 1994. @5 Even those who have been using the F1 95 Version will see just how much more work and thought has went into this production. @1 So why have I taken the time to update the code yet again ? @4 Well, there are two main reasons for this and I will tell you of them over the page .... @4 First of all DMC is just reached its first year of release, so this is a sort of Birthday release ! @1:) @4 Secondly, Steve Bye at F1 Licenceware loved the F1 Release of DMC so much that he asked myself if I was interested in releasing DMC as an F1 #3GOLD @4Title. @3 As most of you may already know, Licenceware Titles are far better than plain old PD and Shareware titles and are of commercial quality. So where does the #3GOLD @3part come in? Well all I can say is that to be asked to release my title as #3GOLD @3means that it is obviously on the right tracks of being a full commercial program. @1 One step up the ladder so to speak. @5 Normally a programmer will just remove a few bugs and add a couple of new features to his title before trying to get that much sought after #3GOLD @5release, not me ! @4 If you look at the history section for DMC under V2.1 and V2.2, you will see just how much more stuff I have done. Obviously this is only a short examples list as it could take up a whole disk of all things that had to be done if I were to type up full details of all the coding required, but at least you will get the general. @4 Not only that, but I had to sit down for hours on end typing up all the doc files, drawing all the pictures, checking all the code to make sure that errors can be handled (which meant I had to cause them in the first place and believe me, DMC is good at handling a whole load of them now!). @3 I also went one step nearer the commercial side of things by writing a new DMC Registration Section. This is mainly to stop piracy. As you know, DMC can be used by anyone to release disk mags etc, so what happens when the end user is finished reading your mag ? He likes the look of it and wants to do his own. Simple he just removes all your text files and pictures and adds his own ! @5 Awwch ! You have just been ripped off. After all, how could you tell if it was your copy of DMC he was using to release his own productions? I don't think you could ! @4 So now you have to Register yourself and a special KeyFile is produced which is encrypted for security purposes. Your name and your Registration numer also appears on the last page of the ABOUT section on DMC. Select it now to see your name in lights ! ....... @1 So now anyone can tell who's copy of DMC is being used to spread a production which is a good thing. @4 If anyone does get a hold of the master disk (ie. before it is registered) and decide to register it in their own name and release a production, it will be found and with the help of the PD Libraries, will be removed. @3 Steve Bye at F1 Licenceware is the only person to distribute DMC GOLD and therefore he has a full DataBase of all purchasers. So we can easily find offenders now. @5 Don't forget that you can send Steve your Reg Number which will entitle you to cheap updates of this program (if any are released). If you don't register, you will have to pay the full price again! So it is worth doing don't ya think? @1 Where was I, ah yes, getting closer to that commercial release .... @4 I also took the time to set out the printed manual for DMC so that it was put together in such a way that you can follow it as easily as possible. ie. No middle man who has never used DMC before had the chance to fob you off with a duff and unreadable manual :) I also took the time to fully spell-check it for any errors. @3 I have also included as many variations of text articles as I could so that you get as much information as you need to create your own. @4 Plus example pictures to help you out also and just to prove that I listen to ALL DMC users, I have added in all your requests to the code this time and I hope you are all happy with the results. (by the way, it's hard to keep everyone happy, but I think this release should do just that) @3 Previous users already know that I have released the Amos Pro source code to the F1 95 Releases of DMC and the Article Tester, so they could add their own features if required. This offer is still on, but remember that it is only the source code for the F1 95 Versions and NOT this new #3GOLD @3release @1:( @5 However, the code is still brilliant and is worth the money if you are serious about producing your own disk mags, catalogue disks etc @1 If you can't code and still require that special personalised version of DMC, then write to myself and I'll see what I can do. @4 I hope you find that this release is what you are looking for in a Disk Mag Creator, let's be honest, there are none as good as DMC doing the rounds ! #1 Or #2can #3you #4prove #5me #6wrong #7? @5 DMC lets you create disk magas up to the same standard as Grapevine and all the other leading diskzines with one major difference, you don't need to code any of it :) What a time saver that is. @3 Tell all your mates about DMC, advertise it in your own productions (I have included some pictures and text for you to do this if you would be so kind as to add them) @1 I have also included a file named DMC_Instructions.asc which you can spread with your productions so that the end user knows how to work the whole thing (as if they need any help as DMC is easy enough to work), but it's there all the same if you want to use it. @4 I have made things as easy as possible for you to get your own productions put together by releasing DMC on two disks. @3 BOOT DISK and EXTRAS DISK. @4 The BOOT DISK can simply be copied and all your own files added to it to save you from having to create your own boot disk. This way all you have to do is remove ALL my files and replace them with your own articles, pictures and music etc. @5 Please remove all of my files from your production before release. @5 Especially all the help articles or people will try and use your copy of DMC to release a disk mag of their own !!! If they don't have a clue as to creating panels, pictures and text etc. they won't be able to do much with it. @3 Another great form of security is to CRUNCH ALL your files using CMania. (Even your config files and Panel etc.) That way, lamers won't have a clue what the files do :) Plus you have the advantage of being able to fit more files on your disk. @4 You'll be amazed at just how much space is saved by crunching your files. I would suggest that you crunch them ALL before release even if you don't need the space. That way you could include the Article Tester on your disk so anyone wanting to contribute to your disk mag with articles could easily fix them out before sending them to you. That would save you hours of re-editing them @1:-) @5 I have included as much info on crunching your files as you'll need and I hope you get into the habbit of doing it as it makes good sense to do so if you don't want to be ripped off by lamers. @1 End.
