Short: Link Amiga to Psion S3/a palmtops Author: o.wagner@pluribus.wupper.de Uploader: o.wagner@pluribus.wupper.de Version: 1.5 Type: comm/misc Long: AmigaNCP is a implementation of the Psion link protocol which is e.g. built into the Psion S3/S3a palmtop's ROM. It's main purpose is to provide vice-versa nfs-like file access. AmigaNCP features: -- the "amigancp.library" providing all the network I/O functions. -- the AmigaNCP-FileServer providing transparent access to Amiga files from the Psion side with optional on-the-fly character conversion. -- the AmigaNCP-FileSystem providing transparent access to Psion files from the AmigaDOS environment. -- a print server allowing to print directly from your Psion to a printer connected to your Amiga. -- full developer documentation and associated material to faciliate NCP services from within your own applications. AmigaNCP requires: -- AmigaOS 2.04 or better (localization supported). -- the IBM-PC version of the 3-Link cable. Changes from Release 1.4 to 1.5 ------------------------------- -- added french catalog translation (thanks ed@ramses.fdn.org) -- added some 8-color MWB icons (thanks phil@dcs.king.ac.uk) -- everything recompiled using SAS/C 6.55 -- fixed a few quirks in the File System increasing compatibility with certain Amiga backup utilities. -- fixed memory usage both in the file server and filesystem. -- print server now reports printer erros and offers retry. -- added .cd files for catalog translators (thanks ed@ramses for the hint ;-) Changes from Release 1.3 to 1.4 ------------------------------- -- the File System now stores icon files in a special AmigaDOS subdirectory to allow snapshoting and backdroping of Psion files and directories. -- did some user and developer documentation update. -- major speedup in the conversion routines. -- fixed several small bugs & quirks. -- Installation script now compatible with old 1.24 Installer. -- added catalog translation files. Changes from Release 1.2 to 1.3 ------------------------------- -- fixed a bug in the FileSystem regarding write request error handling. Changes from Release 1.1 to 1.2 ------------------------------- -- fixed a bug in the FileSystem which caused a 80000003 guru on 68000-only machines. Changes from Release 1.0 to 1.1 ------------------------------- -- fixed a major bug in both the FileServer and FileSystem: both called upon exec.library/CreatePool() et al for memory management; since the pool functions are severly broken in the AmigaOS 2.x release, this lead to undefined behaviour and possible crashed on 2.x systems. Now the link version of the pool functions are embedded in "amigancp.library" to ensure proper behaviour. Changes from Release 0.10beta to 1.0 ------------------------------------ -- fixed broken Installer script (still used "ncp.library" instead of "amigancp.library") -- fixed character conversion bugs in both the file server and file system. Changes from Release 0.9 to 0.10 (beta) --------------------------------------- -- library is now named "amigancp.library" to avoid problems with an already existing, similary named library. -- fixed several reconnection problems which mainly occured when the Psion auto-powered off. -- now correctly handles filenames with non ASCII characters. -- fixed several file system problems, esspecially with Examine()/ExNext(). -- fixed bugs in the file server which caused data trashing on large files.
