_____________________________________________________________________ W E L C O M E T O J T E's MAGICWB ICONS » III « Released 05-12-94 _____________________________________________________________________ INTRODUCTION This is the 3rd MagicWB (© Martin Huttenloher) package from me, Jan- Tore Eliassen. The icons has been worked on and off for the last 5-6 months. I've have stolen lot of ideas from most of the MagicWB packages out there (huh-huh, cool!). Hope you don't mind! I'm not that good with mixing colors and creating something from scratch you know! :-( Anyway, hope you like these icons, fartknockers! ;-) _____________________________________________________________________ CONTENTS This package contains some 190 MagicWB icons, drawers and dock- brushes. Sorry, but because of the amount of icons, no detailed description of the icons are available. Many of the icons in this package are old icons from the first 2 releases, JTEMWB1.LhA & JTEMWB2.LhA, which I've updated to MagicWB v2.0 templates and colors. There are also a lot of new icons, some ImageDrawers for locale files and a few ToolManager (© Stefan Becker) dock-brushes. A couple of the icons don't use the standard templates, but what the heck!! The ImageDrawers used are from various packages and the MagicWB v2.0 package. PS! The first 2 icon packages mention above can just be deleted! _____________________________________________________________________ INSTALLATION Click on 'ClickForColors' for the NEW MagicWB v2.0 palette. Use a icon update program, MUI_IconUpdate or IconUpdate, which preserves the tooltypes and position of the icon, to update your old icons. _____________________________________________________________________ NOTE All the icons in this package are in 8 colors, 3 bitplanes. MagicWB v2.0 have a demon that controls the icons (and patterns) so that they have the correct colors. So if you use more than 8 colors on your WB, the icon colors will not be fucked up! This makes MagicWB v2.0 nearly as fast as the standard 4 color icons. For you not using the MagicWB 2 demon and use more than 8 colors, can fix the ugly looking icons by using the icon utility IconDepth v1.4 (© Bjørnar Henden). But this will make the icons bigger (KB wise!) and the Workbench much slower. So register NOW! MagicWB look best for screens sized 640x512 and above. Don't use it with 640x256 screens, it's FUCKING ugly! Icons are meant to replace the text in a GUI-Graphic User Interface, so avoid using large fonts on the WB. XHelvetica 9 or 11 are big enough for the WB. _____________________________________________________________________ Welcome to Frustration Inn! To Amiga Magazines: Why can't you use 640x512+ screens with high quality fonts and WB2 colors when you have screenshots of serious applications. And stop using those fucking ugly palettes. Many of my PC user friends gets/has the impression that the Amiga only uses low-Res screens, so that it just looks like a games machine after all, and can't be taken seriously. And that really pisses me off. Windows may look good, but it's crap. Workbench looks crap (without MagicWB), but it's the best OS out there! Take Amiga Computing: They use a mix between WB1.3 and WB2+ colors on 90% of their screenshots. WHY? It's suppose to be a magazine for serious Amiga users, why not act like one? This also goes for you other, English, Amiga magazines. And why take consideration to WB1.3 users when developing serious applications/PD-/Shareware utilities etc.? WB2, and now WB3.x, has been a standard for 3-4 years now. WB1.3 users only use their Amigas for games anyway. Fuck'em! And now a couple of questions to Martin Huttenloher; What are you gonna do with new icon that pops up when MS-DOS disks are inserted? NewIcons has a hack for it! Has CBM fixed the Preset-icon bug in WB3.1? How are the upgrade system working? How do the registered users get notified of new versions? And when can we expect a new MagicWB release? _____________________________________________________________________ COPYRIGHT JTE's MagicWB Icons 3 (JTEMWB3) is copyright ©1994 Jan-Tore Eliassen. This package is FREEWARE. You are allowed to spread it all over the world using any storage medium available, but you must spread the whole package. Programmers & creators of PD-software are allowed to include single icons of this package in their own package-distributions. _____________________________________________________________________ DISCLAIMER I'll take no responsibility for you getting laughed at for using these icons! Neither any damages caused to your beloved Amiga, your red old Lada or your already poor health. I also take no responsibility for any of the offensive text in this readme file, as I live in a free country with the right to speak freely. ;-))) I've learned all the swear words from movies, so blame them! My younger brother can also swear in English, but because of censorship (fuck censorship!) he only says; *beep* you! or Go *beep* a duck you mother*beep*er! So everytime he's angry at me, he goes around beeping (you know, like a roundrunner!). BEEP-BEEP! Think I drifted into a different area there! Now to something serious. Some PD-libraries rip people off by making their own disks which includes a little utility/program that takes up 20% of the disk and take £2 bloody pounds for it. Others make these theme utility disks and take £5 pounds for 2 disks. Come on! PD is meant to be free, you can only charge for the disk, copying charges and postage. Maybe by cutting down on your advertisements expenses you could cut the prize on the PD disks. You have these fancy advertisements in every Amiga magazine every bleeding month with every page costing hundreds of pounds. How can you afford it? When you're selling programs that supposed to be none profitable? Take one PD-library in Swindon, England, £4 for a degrader disk, £5 for MagicWB extras, £5 for a disk doubler, £6 for the Klondike AGA cardgame... Need I say more? Rip off? I say YES! >-( Because of this I have to include this: You aren't allowed to take more than £1,- (English pound) including disk and copying cost, and you must include some other MagicWB icons/ patterns to fill up the disk by at least 90%. _____________________________________________________________________ THANKS I want to thank the following person/groups etc.: - Martin Huttenloher for creating MagicWB. - Roman Patzer for his high quality RomIcons, which I've stole a bunch of stuff from. Hope you don't mind! I (WE?) want more!! :-) - CBM UK for showing gutz. Hope you succeed! - Megadeth for bringing out Youthanasia. Fucking AWESOME! - My contacts (no one mention, no one forgotten) for keeping me up-to-date. - SensiSoccer and Settlers for being so utterly good; Bringing some memorable moments to me and my amigos. - MTV's Zig & Zag for being ultra cool (OOZIN', Dudes!). - NewIcons users for bringing a new discussion on who's best. Grow up! BTW: MagicWB may not be magic, but NewIcons are definitely not new! - Myself for staying sane in an insane world!! _____________________________________________________________________ EQUIPMENT Hardware: Amiga 4000/030, 6MB RAM (2/4), 85 MB IDE HDD, 40MB GVP-SCSI HDD, Profex 880KB extra floppy, C1942 BiSync monitor, HP Deskjet 500C colorinkjet, Zoom V32bis (14.4) Faxmodem, Sharp JX-100 colorscanner, Robotech Mach 2 mouse/joystick switch, Comtec mouse...
