GRAC V2.0d (demo version restricted to one room) ---------- The first version of GRAC was a complete adventure writing system, and the first of its kind to be released for any computer. But it had its limitations. Since I developed it along with the game I was writing at the time, 'Lethal Formula', it had exactly those features I needed to write that game, and no more. GRAC 2 is much more comprehensive. I added many more features while writing another, longer game. I also used suggestions from some of the hundreds of people who bought GRAC 1, and looked at commercial adventures for even more ideas. The result is that GRAC 2 will allow you to get closer to the game that YOU want to write. One thing I would like to see is a commercial GRAC game. I think that GRAC is more powerful than most of the adventure systems that have been used for games on the Amiga. Someone must be able to prove it. The full version of GRac V2 is to be released early December 1995 by F1 Licenceware with printed manual, price TBA. Copyright Notice ---------------- The GRAC system 2.0, including the editor and player is copyright E.W.Clay 1995. It may not be distributed or modified in any way without my permission. The GRACplayer is public domain and may be used for the purpose of distributing games written using GRAC as public domain or licenceware. Commercial release of GRAC games will require my permission. (See the licence form for details) GRAC was written using AMOS and you must acknowledge such if you release a game. Hard disk installation ---------------------- GRAC runs much better from a hard disk, so I recommend installing it if you can. 2Mb is really needed for GRAC to be practical from hard disk. To install the editor, just drag the icon across; similarly for the documentation. If necessary copy the files from the c and libs directories as well. The 'installer' icon on this disk is to install Lethal Formula. It is also an example of how to install a GRAC game. Distributed by F1 Licenceware. 18.5.95 - V1.1. Minor update. - V2.0. Many new features added. See the 'new_features' file for details. Future Updates -------------- I have included most of the features I wanted to in GRAC 2. Some things that are missing are AGA support, more control over characters, more advanced script editing features, a choice of control options, adjustable settings to allow more than 100 rooms or characters and a password system to stop anyone loading a protected GRAC game (the problem here is that is if I use a password, anyone who buys the source code will be able to bypass it. If I use encryption, the GRACplayer won't be able to run the game. Any ideas?) Some of these may never be implemented for technical reasons, others in the next version of GRAC, if there is enough demand. Keep writing to me with suggestions; many new features in GRAC 2 are the result of user feedback. 26.8.95
