This pair of disks have a couple of possibilities. The basic program looks at holiday photography, and can be loaded from the icons on this disk - DISK 1. Loading can be directly from your own workbench - a must in the case of 1.3 users, or from the cut down workbench 2 on disk 1 - i.e. autobooting. Once Disk 2 has been asked for, all the files required to run the program are on that disk so, if you only have one drive, leave Disk 2 in it. As music and sound have been added, the program is rather memory hungary. Should you wish to stop the music OR sound, pressing the 'M' key from the menu page stops the music, pressing the 'S' key stops sound. Pressing either key again restarts the associated function. If you have MORE than 1 meg, a 1200 or expanded 500 or 600, then the program should load and run without problems. If you have 1 meg. or less, and experience loading problems, you are probably out of memory. If that is the case, press 'N' at the prompt during loading. This prevents the music and sound being loaded and saves some 140 K. The program should then run. You can also use this feature if you definitely don't want any kind of sound on machines with larger memory. If you want the sound, or as a last resort if you are really short of memory, open the drawer marked 'SHORT-MEM' and load the AUTOEXEC.AMOS program in that drawer rather than any other version. This is slower in use as every page is loaded as it is called, and not at the start of the program. Try it, you should be able to allow the music and sound to load with this version. As with most programs written in AMOS, pressing LEFT-A and A together takes you to workbench. Doing the same again returns you to the program. For reasons known only to AMOS, the screen sometimes corrupts on return and forces a re-boot. If you wish to install to a hard drive, you MUST have a WORK: partition. Create in that partition a directory called 'HOLS' and copy ALL of the files from DISK 2 into it and most files except the AUTOEXEC.AMOS and AUTOEXEC.AMOS.INFO from DISK 1 into it. ALL of the directories from DISK 1 should be left off except the AMOS_SYSTEM which MUST be there. The 'SHORT-MEM' directory is not required. For those used to a directory utility such as Directory Opus or Dirworks, this is quite easy. THE AMOS program required for the hard disk is in the 'HARD-DISK' drawer and should be copied to the Hard Disk HOLS drawer from it's storage drawer. **************** Also included on Disk 1, in the HARDCOPY drawer, is a short program that deals with producing photographic results from a TV or monitor screen. This runs in exactly the same way as the main program, but has no memory difficulties. A version of this program was published, as an article, in the MARCH 1995 issue of AUI Magazine. **************** THE AUTHOR. Very briefly, I am a Manager in industry with a technical background and was taught photography to a high standard as part of my technical training. I learnt to use cameras up to 5X4 and process colour and mono films and prints. In later years I joined camera clubs, becoming a judge and lecturer and entering club and national competitions with some success. Now I satisfy my photographic urge by supplying work to magazines and Photo libraries. DISCLAIMER All material on this disk is correct to the best of the author`s knowledge.
