Classic paganism bloomed fully in Greece between 1000Bc to 900Bc and hence
became the state religion of Greece until the advent of Christianity.

The ancient Greeks believed that 'chaos' spawned Uranus and Gaea - heaven
and Earth - from whom descended the Titans, giants who were later 
defeated by Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis,Ares, Aphrodite,
Athena,Hermes, Hephaestus and others....
