CYRUS THE GREAT
                              
Cyrus(died 529BC) was the founder of the Persian Empire. He became king of
the Persians while they were still just a small Aryan tribe subject to
the Medes. In 550BC he overthrew Media and in 546BC captured Croesus,King
of Lydia and became the master of the whole of Asia Minor,including Greek
cities on the coast. Finally, in 539BC he captured Babylon and Syria.
