OSWALD MOSLEY AND THE BRITISH UNION OF FASCISTS In 1932, Sir Oswald Mosley, former Labour minister established the B.U.F after a visit to Italy and becoming very impressed by Mussolini's achievments there. The party grew quite quickly but organised opposition by Jewish and Communist groups led to street battles and the party went into decline. The passing of a law in 1940, many BUF members were jailed at the start of the Second World war, effectively ending the party.
