                           Version 2.0

This README file describes the features of The Golf Scorekeeper
and also contains an index of the files that should be on your
distribution disk.

The features of The Golf Scorekeeper v2.0 are:

          system.

        * Unlimited number of courses can be defined.

        * Player history reports - Full history or By course

        * Team definition and scorekeeping

        * Player ranking reports

        * Course ranking reports

        * Foursome & Fivesome report generator

        * All players and courses maintained in RAM for fast
          access when building reports

        * All players and courses "shadowed" on disk in case of
          unexpected power loss

        * Pull-down menuing system

        * Hot keys for special functions

        * Context sensitive help (like having an online manual)

        * Full mouse support

These features are discussed in detail in the user's manual.

If you want to get started fast there is a section in the user's
manual titled "Getting Started, Fast". This is a one page
description of how to get started without reading the entire
manual.

The following is a list of the files that should be on your
distribution disk:

        1. GOLFSKOR.EXE This is the executable program.

        2. GOLFSKOR.HLP The internal help file used by
                                the program's context sensitive
                                help feature.

        3. GOLFSKOR.DOC         The Golf Scorekeeper user's manual
                                (20 Pages long) This should print
                                to any printer using the DOS
                                print  command.  (You  might have
                                some problems on laser printers.)

        4. REGISTER.FRM The form used for registering the
                                software. (Read the "Registration
                                Information" section of the user's
                                manual for more info)

        5. README               This file.

         ************ System Requirements **************

The Golf Scorekeeper will run on any IBM PC or compatible. You
will need at least 256K of RAM and DOS 2.0 or higher. The system
will run off of a floppy but will be somewhat slower. The same is
true for some CGA monitors when you have to use snow control.
256K of RAM is a minimum, it is best if you have more. This is
because The Golf Scorekeeper keeps all player and course data in
memory and with only 256K you are limited to a combination of
roughly 250 courses and players. If you use a mouse just load in
the generic driver that comes with your particular mouse.

The only known problem with hardware is the IBM 8514 monitor. If
you run the program on this monitor you might not get anything on
the screen. I am however, looking into this problem and hope to
have a solution soon.

            *********** Version History *************

Version 1.0 was the original version of The Golf Scorekeeper.

Version 1.01 -
        Fixed the automatic generation of player numbers so that
        old numbers could be reused.

Version 1.1 -
        Added the Min and Max points caps to the Points
        Equivalents option off of the Set-up menu.

        Added the 8 special hot key functions, 4 regular "F" keys
        and 4 <ALT> "F" keys. Press and hold the <ALT> key to see
        the <ALT> functions.

Version 1.2 -
        Changed the functionality of Change Player Status to
        Change Player Info.

        Fixed the input fields on the player definition screen so
        that they would automatically put the input in mixed
        case.

Version 1.3 -
        Added the cutoff date to the team scores report option.
        This will insure that only the latest scores are used
        when generating the team scores report.

Version 2.0 -
        Fixed the team scores report so that the relative points
        calculation used the points that the player was shooting
        for when the latest score was entered and not the new
        adjusted points. This change required a modification of
        the players record thus making older version GLFMEMBR.DAT
        files incompatible with this version.

IMPORTANT * IMPORTANT * IMPORTANT * IMPORTANT * IMPORTANT * IMPORTANT

The file GLFMEMBR.DAT created by a version prior to Version 2.0
will not be compatible with Version 2.0. If you are using a
version of The Golf Scorekeeper that is less than 2.0 you can
convert your files with a conversion utility that is available to
all registered users.
