XXIV!  DOCUMENTATION FILE

XXIV! is a shareware program.  Shareware is a method of software
distribution that allows the user to test the software before deciding on
whether to buy it.  Please be aware that without support, we cannot
continue to produce low-cost, high-quality software for the shareware 
market!  If you find XXIV! useful or entertaining, please register your
copy.

You may distribute copies of this software so long as it is unaltered and
in its original form.  If whoever you send it to finds the program useful
or enjoyable, please encourage them to register.

Users of XXIV! for educational purposes will be given the special
school version of the program at no extra cost except for a $3.00 ($8.00 
outside the U.S. and Canada) shipping charge.  Instructions in that version
are designed for children.  Educational Site licences for multi-user systems
are $60.00. Please specify on the registration form whether you prefer 3.5" 
or 5.25" disks.

Users of XXIV! must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

"XXIV! is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.

REGISTERING

The file REGISTER.DOC contains a registration form.  To print the form, 
boot your printer and type the following command at the DOS prompt:

	COPY REGISTER.TXT PRN

This will produce a hard copy which you can then fill out and mail, along
with the $10.00 registration fee, to:

INSTALLATION

Copy the distribution files to a directory on your hard drive.  The files
which should be present are:

	XXIV.EXE
	DAT1.DAT
	DAT2.DAT
	DAT3.DAT
	DAT4.DAT
	DAT5.DAT
	DAT6.DAT
	DAT7.DAT
	DAT8.DAT
	README.TXT
	REGISTER.TXT

If one or more files were missing with your distribution copy, YOU MAY NOT
DISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM.  Please check with your source to see if you can
retrieve the files.  If not, you may register and request a full copy of
the program.  Please send $3.00 for shipping (or $8.00 outside the U.S. and 
Canada) in this case.

RUNNING THE PROGRAM & HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

XXIV!  Requires a VGA monitor and display adapter.  It runs best on a 386 or
higher, but has been tested to run adequately on a standard 286.

To run the program, type:

	XXIV

at the DOS prompt, while you are in the directory containing the program.
While you are running the program, press the ESC key at any time to exit.
At the title screen, press the H key to view online help, or the arrow
keys to change skill levels.
