This is the beta release of a PC Gopher server for MS-DOS and MS-Windows.
The program uses the TCP/IP library of the University of Minnesota and
the Crynwr packet driver collection. The UoM TCP/IP package is included in
a file IBMTCP.DRV. There are no packet drivers included, they should be
obtained from the original sites. The PC Gopher server program has a size of
less than 30 KB (50KB including the TCP/IP lib).

The GOPHSERV package allows execution of other user programs and can
therefore be extended to a more powerful server without recompiling the
server program.

A few utilities to build a Gopher server are included:

	- generation of links to specific files in a directory
	- simple database search engine using Borland's PARADOX P-Engine
	- documentation is included as a sample Gopher server system

The GOPHSERV package is divided into three parts:

	GOPHSERV.ZIP (server package 30 KB)
	GOPHDOC.ZIP (documentation 7 KB)
	ENGINE.ZIP (database engine 137 KB)

You just need the server package and documentation to run a server.
If you download the whole package, you should create a directory GOPHER
and three subdirectories (SERVER, DOC and ENGINE). Then place

	unzipped GOPHSERV.ZIP into subdirectory \GOPHER\SERVER
	unzipped GOPHDOC.ZIP into subdirectory \GOPHER\DOC
	unzipped ENGINE.ZIP into subdirectory \GOPHER\ENGINE

The files can be downloaded via anonymous ftp from:
