Please note: This is the distribution for NTP Version 1. It has been
superseded by NTP Version 3, which can be found in the compressed tar
archive xntp3.tar.Z in the parent directory. New installations of NTP
Version 1 are strongly discouraged and will not be supported in future.

The compressed tar files in this directory will have already had all of the
patches applied that are in the patch directory.  If you fetch the new tar
file, you should not apply any of the current patches in the patches 
directory to it.

You may apply new patches (newer than specified in patchlevel.h) to bring
your version up to date.  Note that you will get some reject patches due
to the RCS version control stuff in the file.  This will be fixed soon.
