   Within this preprints directory, papers are organized by subject
   area.  You will find here directories named "Epistemology",
   "Metaphysics" and so on.

   Within each, you will find directories with names like
   "Jane_Jones.Frege".  In this directory you would find a
   paper by Jane Jones, with short title "Frege".

   Each paper stored here consists of two or more files.

   First, there will be a file ending in ".abs", containing an
   abstract of the paper, in a form that can be viewed online
   (for most users, a command like "get frege.abs |more" will
   display it).

   Then there will be one or more files containing the text of
   the paper, in various formats:

       Filename ending 	Format

       .txt    	    	plain ASCII text.  If you don't know what the others
					      are, get this one!
       .ps    	    	Postscript
       .wp    	    	WordPerfect
       .msd 	    	Microsoft Word for DOS
       .msm 	    	Microsoft Word for Macintosh
       .msw    	    	Microsoft Word for Windows
       .tex    	    	TeX or LaTeX
       .dvi 	    	TeX DVI
       .rtf 	    	Microsoft RTF
       .sgm    	    	SGML/TEI
       .tr  	    	Troff
       .hqx 	    	Macintosh Binhex

   There may also be one or more files with names ending in ".cmt",
   containing comments on the paper by people other than the author.
   These will be in plain ASCII text format.
