I have been in this business since 1978 and have supported the Atari-ST since its inception. We sell only to dealers. Most of the software and peripherals purchased by you were purchased from us. We go all over the world to find Atari computer products. At this time we have over 2000 different Atari related items in stock available for immediate shipment to our dealers. The market is changing. As an example, contrary to popular belief, Atari's Falcon Line of Computers will not be available through the traditional mail order channels. Only Atari authorized dealers with traditional store fronts will be authorized to sell Falcons to walk in customers. If Atari holds to these requirements, and I think they will, it will be imperative that there be more dealers in the market and this is the point of this letter. Mail order does not "grow" the market. Think about it, we need to reach outside of the Atari circle of users. The Atari mail order market does not do this but the traditional dealer can "sell" Atari to anyone. We need more dealers with store fronts and walk in customers. You can help! My guess is that there is an independent computer dealer in your area that does not carry any Atari items. Get your Atari friends together and approach that dealer with the following proposition, "you support us, we will support you", if you need something ask the dealer to order it for you. We can help! Most non Atari dealers do not know about us. They do not know that they can order only what they need, even if it is only one piece of software and still get best dealer pricing. Give that dealer our phone number (800)327-0425 and ask him to call. Together we can "grow" you an Atari dealer and hopefully the dealer will "grow" the Atari circle in your area. Show dates and times are: Saturday July 24, 1993 10am - 6pm Sunday July 25, 1993 Noon - 5pm Just as in previous years, we have arranged for FREE Booth space for Atari developers!! (We're only requesting the donation of a door prize). We can promise both developers and show-goers an energetic and exciting show with as enthusiastic a crowd of Atarians as you'll find anywhere, plus the support of Computer STudio in the mall. We're once again taking over the Courtyard Shop (mall) area at Westgate Shopping Center for the show (location of Computer STudio), plus the use of vacant store spaces for seminar sessions. Seminar sessions will be 45 minutes in length, and developers are welcome to conduct a seminar on their product line or approved topic of their choice (seminar sessions are limited, so first come, first served). This year's show dates also coincide with Asheville's annual Bele Chere street festival, when downtown Asheville is closed to vehicular traffic and becomes what must be one of the largest street fairs in the country. Westgate Shopping Center is one of the primary Park-and-Ride shuttle centers for transporting people to and from downtown, and we've arranged to have the shuttle service pick up at the front entrance of the mall and drop off at the rear entrance, so everyone taking the service from Westgate WILL walk through the AtariFest exhibition area sometime during the day. This will be a great opportunity to showcase Atari and Atari related software and peripherals, and introduce them to people who aren't already Atari owners. Bringing in NEW blood is the key to the growth of this platform, and this will be our opportunity to begin that process with a captive audience. Additional discussions of the show, as well as confirmations of your participation, are welcome in GEnieMail and in the Blue Ridge AtariFest topic 13 in Category 11 here on GEnie. Hoping to hear from you soon. Happy Atari Computing. It's happening in Asheville! For additional information, please contact: Sheldon Winick Cliff Allen, Show Coord. Watch for updates to this list or check our Genie topic (cat 11 topic 11) Bruce Welsch KCAC Special Events Coordinator ---------- B.WELSCH [BRUCE], CAT 11, TOP 11, MSG:45/M475, Mar 28, 1993 Hi Hutch, Yes, the show is shaping up fantasticly, with a list of 20 vendors already. There are a couple more devs we are in contact with we hope will make it. But there is one area that our computers shine in and that is midi. We are tring to get this area covered. Of course we would like Atari Corp. to attend but I really understand where Bob is on this subject. From my understanding he has CES, the CT show, San Antonio, Then us. He does need to get home to see the family. So if he does decide to come in, it would be greatly appreciated. The third area we have ran into a road block is with the Lynx products. We have not been able to find out who to talk to about getting lynxes into the show. So if anyone has a lead on this, please leave me e-mail with the info. We know that this past christmas, lynxes where selling great here and feel that if we can get them to come in it will help sell games to those who own them and hopefully get people to take a look at (and buy) the Atari line of computers. We even have access to a smaller second hall that we could set up as a lynx display area. Get four or five of the stands (I can't spell the official name ;-) set up, where people can try out the lynx and the games and those dealers who carry them in the main hall could make some serious sales. Remember, that most Atarians have at least one lynx for the kids (I have one each for the two boys). If the show was tomorrow, it still would be a great show thanks to you and the other Developers who have decided to take a chance on a first time show. But in the next 30 to 45 days we are hoping to make it even better by adding more vendors and getting the midi people in. As far as attendees, I can't say what kind of turn out we will have. We have already mailed user group paks to those who requested them and will be mailing out user group advance ticket information in the next two weeks. Just waiting on the maps to the show. Developers and vendors who can not make the show and would like to advertise in the program should leave me e-mail and I will give them non- attendee rates. As for you and the other attendees, advertising rates will be included with the second mailing (about two weeks). I hope to have the hall sold out by May 5th. this, so we will have a complete list for our mag ads. As always I am here to answer questions. so everyone please feel free to ask away!!! If you would like to order advance tickets directly from us and save a dollar a ticket to this great event, Please send a check or money order for 4.00 dollars per ticket to; Kansas City AtariFest '93, P.O. Box 1653, Lee Summit, MO 64063. If your user group would like to receive a user group pak or just user group advance ticket info, please leave me e-mail with your information, (name, address, etc.). In closing, just remember, be at the Kansas City show on June 26th and 27th or be a very lonely Atarian (everyone else will be here)!!!
