 5/17/93 Flash Cards version 1.0
Educational Software for the Windows Environment

Introduction: Flash Cards is a fun, easy way for an elementary school
student or pre-schooler to learn the basic mathematical skills.
The big difference between this program and the flash cards
bought at your local store is that the student can practice math
	without your help.

Features:	. multiple choice answers
. button bar on main window for easy configuration
		. online help
		. four predefined skill levels
		. optional timed testing
		. optional printed score sheet
		. customizable settings

Requirements: You must have an IBM-PC or compatible capable of running
Microsoft Windows 3.x. Since Flash Cards was written in Visual
Basic Version 2, the Visual Basic runtime module, VBRUN200.DLL,
is also required. Since this file is rather large (over 300K), it
is not included in this package but is available for download from
most BBSs. You can also get it directly from the author on a
diskette for a $2.00 shipping and handling charge. Note that the
registered version comes with the Visual Basic runtime module.

Packing List:	FLSHCARD.EXE - the executable file
FLSHCARD.HLP - the online help file
		README.TXT - this file
		REGISTER.TXT - the registration form

Installation procedures:

	1. Create a new directory and name it c:\FLSHCARD (or something
else appropriate). This can be done either at the DOS prompt
or thru the Windows File Manager (see the appropriate user's
manual for specific instructions of the commands).
	2. Copy the files to that directory. FLSHCARD.EXE and FLSHCARD.HLP
are required, README.TXT and REGISTER.TXT are optional. This
can be done either at the DOS prompt or thru the Windows File
Manager (see the appropriate user's manual for specific
	   instructions of the commands).
	3. From the Program Manager of Windows, select the FILE, NEW menu
	   options.
	4. Select Program Group and click the OK button.
	5. For Description, enter Flash Cards and click the OK button.
	6. From the Program Manager of Windows, select the FILE, NEW menu
	   options.
	7. Select Program Item and click the OK button.
	8. For Description, enter Flash Cards.
	9. For Command Line, enter the name of the directory that you
created in step 1 followed by \FLSHCARD.EXE and click the OK
	   button (e.g. c:\FLSHCARD\FLSHCARD.EXE)
	10. Ensure that you have a copy of VBRUN200.DLL in your Windows
path (Microsoft advises putting it in your System subdirectory
	    of the Windows directory)

Registration Benefits: Flash Cards is shareware, not freeware. To make
it easy to register, I have included a registration form (file
name is REGISTER.TXT) that can be edited with any ASCII text
editor, such as Windows Notepad. Registered users will receive
	the following benefits:

. the latest version of Flash Cards with all shareware
		  notices removed (VBRUN200.DLL included)
. notification of future upgrades available at reduced
		  rates to registered users
		. free technical support
		. custom programming available

Potential Enhancements:

. print a certificate for the student
. save the student name and scores
. save the configuration by student name
. compare scores to measure progress
		. print progress sheets
		. more graphic animation
		. sound

If you have a feature that you would like to see in Flash Cards,
please let me know. At the time of release, there are no known
bugs in the program. However, just because I haven't found them
doesn't mean that there aren't any. If you find any bugs, I
would very much appreciate it if you let me know about them.

Distribution: Flash Cards may be used by anyone FREE of charge, for an
initial 30 day evaluation. Additionally, it may be distributed
by Shareware companies for a reasonable fee not to exceed $8 per
diskette. The requirement is that all of the files in the
original package be included, and not altered. If you continue
to use this program after an initial 30 day evaluation period,
then you are required to send a $15 payment to:
