This is release 1.1 of "docp" (a Directory-Oriented CoPy program, formerly known as "mcp"). The reason for the name change is to reflect that Monk Software no longer supports this program in any way. 'mcp' was released as freeware before, so this should not be a big impact to anyone. There are several new options in this release as well as a few bug fixes. Copying large (i.e. bigger than the target media) files is now supported through the '-l' and '-j' options. The target directoy can also be cleared out before the copy using '-z' (zap). The bug-fixes include a couple involving the check ('-c') option and one involving the target directory, if it did not previously exist, not being created. I hope this program is useful. I find it to be so. Please send suggestions or bug reports to me, Roy Bixler. Roy Bixler April 11, 1992 -------------------------- cut here ----------------------------------- I've just had a brush with a rather nasty 'bug'. The program would crash when writing files to a floppy. Now, this has worked fine before, but sometimes would fail when the serial number of the floppy doesn't change relative to the previous floppy in the drive (i.e. when using floppies formatted with DOS). To fix this, no change to the program is necessary - just install this 'fmc' (force media change) program in your AUTO folder and re-boot. Otherwise, I simply re-compiled the binary using GCC 2.1 and the newest Mint libraries (ver. 20 - ver. 19 supposedly had its own 'nasty bugs'.). Of course, it would be nice if I could get some force-media-change code to incorporate into the program. I haven't come across any yet and the only way I know of to get this code is to register as an official Atari developer, which I'm not ready for yet. Maybe I will be someday, especially if I ever get around to writing a GEM interface to 'docp'. Roy Bixler June 7, 1992 e-mail: as327@cleveland.freenet.edu (rcb@netcom.com to go away soon!)
