BIO-GRAPH ELITE Bio-Graph Elite was written to fill the need for a graphical presentation, both on screen and by printout, of the biorhythm cycles. This is version 4.0 which is written specifically for printing on the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4 printer. It may work on other HP printers but it has not been tested on any others. Feedback would be appreciated. It will not print on Epson or Epson compatible printers. LANGUAGE The program was written and compiled using GFA BASIC 3.5. DISK CONTENTS The zip file should have contained the following files: - BGRPH_HP.PRG - B_READ40.ASC (This file) - BIOGRAPH.DOC COPYRIGHT This program was copyrighted by the author 1989-1994. This is a shareware program. If you wish to become a registered user and receive a personalized copy, send $15 to the name and address given below. Other programs specific to the HP 4 will be included on your disk. USING THE PROGRAM Use of the program is practically self explanatory. It will run in either ST medium or ST high resolution. Simply input a name and birth date, choose any options you may want from the "Options" menu and then select "Screen" or "Printer" from the "Output" menu. You will then be asked to enter a starting month and year. After proper entries are completed, sit back and enjoy the scroll into the future or the past as far and as long as you please. INPUT MENU "Input" allows the entry of vital statistics for the subject of the biorhythms. Prompts will ask for their name and birth date. Once the inputs are entered you will be returned to the opening screen. "Save" allows you to write the subject's vital statistics to disk, so the next time you run their biorhythms you will not need to re-enter this information. The first time you "Save" with the program, a folder named "BRTHDAYS" will be automatically created in the root directory of the current drive. All vital statistics will be saved in this folder. You will be asked to provide the name for each file. "Load" is of course used to retrieve the vital stats which were previously "Saved." After loading a file you will only need to provide a starting month and year. OUTPUT MENU When "Screen" is selected you will be prompted to enter the starting month and year for the biorhythms. After proper entry of this data the program will display the biorhythms in two month increments. The screen display will scroll in either direction, and will continue perpetually. The scrolling increment can be controlled through the use of the radio buttons provided for that purpose. The subject's name, birth date, number of days old (updates with each scroll) and the day of week born are also shown. When "Printer" is selected you will be prompted to enter the starting month and year for the biorhythms. After proper entry of this data, several seconds will be required to calculate the biorhythm sine waves and then your HP 4 will do its thing. I have experienced some problems when using print spoolers. It seems that most spoolers will not handle the graphics. One that I have found which seems to work is the CodeHead Print Spooler that comes with the CodeHead Utilities disk. The printed output will show 12 months of biorhythms starting at the month and year which you previously specified. The printout will fill one 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper. It will be headed with the subjects name, birth date (optional), number of days old and the day of week born. OPTIONS MENU The "Sound" option allows you to control the music which plays as the biorhythm sine waves are drawn on screen. The sound can be turned on or off as you choose. The default is 'on.' The 'Error Check' option merely stops you after entering data, and ask you if the data entered is correct. If you answer no (N), the program takes you back to the beginning for new data entry. I think it's a pain in the royal rump, so the default is no 'Error Check'. Another option is for those who want to hide their age. The "Show Birthday" option allows you to suppress the printing (hard copy only) of the birth date. I like it in there as an error check that I typed in the correct date, so the default is 'Show' it. MISCELLANEOUS As far as is known there are no calendar limitations to the program. However, it hasn't been checked for the years preceding 1800 nor the years after 2400. If you were born before 1800 or if you are making plans beyond 2400, be very careful. You are on your own. It is always fun to go back and look at the year you were born and to see what happened on your actual birthday. Try it, you will enjoy it and maybe be surprised as well. There are no known bugs in the program. Please forward comments, suggestions and bug reports to me on GEnie (B.POSTON) or Internet (b.poston@genie.geis.com).
