Wasteroids 1.0 is a Windows based asteroids game using the WinG graphics library.
It features the following:
Fast moving 256 color graphics using WinG (well it is fast on my 66-DX2 PCI).
Realistic tumbling asteroids, interesting backdrops, some alien nasties to kill.
Correct momentum calculations for bouncing off objects.
Various ship control mechanisms (keyboard, mouse, joystick, computer control).
Variable sized screen. One and two player games. And a fun demo mode, watch it.
To install:
Unzip wast.zip to a suitable temporary directory and run setup.exe.
This installation includes the WinG runtime library, this accounts for about half of the 840k of disk space the install files take up. If you already have WinG on your system and your download time is limited, I could send you the install without WinG, which will be about 400k.
Known bugs/additional info.
If the demo mode starts while the menu is open, you will get locked out, press a key to kill the demo mode and you should regain control.
The program uses the entire palette, so when it is the active application, other applications will in general display incorrect colors.
I was unable to get wavemix.dll to work on my system, therefore the sound is only one channel and I have not spent much time getting good samples.
Read the help file for additional information and notes about performance.
