The info day : -------------------------------------- I'm working on this, so this isn't complete. I still have to get the number of visitors and a lot more of information from the other members of the usergroup. First of all I would like to thank all the Belgian and foreign exhibitors for coming and making something great of it. -------------------------------------- At 26 Jan 97, A4 held an info day in the Palaestra at Deinze. The attendance wasn't that big, a little less than 200 people. Even some people (more than 15) from France made the big voyage to Belgium. All the Atari exhibitors were very positive about the day. They made a lot of new contacts, and the Atari-users were able to make some new contacts with other Atarians. I think this is can be done over in the future. We all learned about what went wrong and what can be much better. Several other Atari clubs and companies were invited and present. Here they are, all with a little discription of what they braught.... o Carasys, known of the Hades, had to cancel their comming. Due to an accident of the manager they couldn't make. We all hope he gets better soon. o Martin Byttebier (BPS) gave us a demonstration about internet access with an Atari. He used his TT and MiNTNet with CAB to go online, and showed everybody that an Atari can do as much as an ordinary PC on Internet. A lot of people were interested and asked him several questions. Even the Atari exhibitors were very interested in what he was showing. o The Atari Computer Club C&T from Antwerpen gave a demonstration about MagiC Mac and writing CD-ROM's with an Atari Falcon computer. They used a JAZ-drive to transfer the big amount of data to the CD-writer. The connection of the JAZ and CDW is really Plug and Play, in the right sence of the word. Not like we are used with Win95. o Atari Computer Club Heist o/d Berg. o Atari Computer Club Leopoldsburg. o Micro Video, one of the few Atari-dealers left in Belgium and also distributor of CENTEK products, was present with someone from CENTEK self. They showed us the new CENTurbo II Falcon accelerator. If you want to use "Cubase Audio", but now in Turbo, this is the way to do it. Thanks to a 68030 32 bits CPU at 75 MHz and the possibilite to use a FPU at 50 MHz. The DSP and VIDEL also run at a higher frequency. There is also place to put 32 bit SIMM's on the card so you can use TT-RAM (4, 8, 16 or 32 MB) with a 35% faster access then on a TT. You also have a switch to chose between a 100% normal Falcon mode and the Turbo mode. The Turbo mode is useable in VGA, but also on a TV or RGB-screens. The perfect designed CENTurbo II fits in the original Falcon case. You only have to put thye card in the Slot BUS and make 10 solderings. The Slot BUS is again provided on the card in 32 bits Data, addresses and signals from the 030. The CENTurbo can guide two ISA cards, simply by connecting a special cable to it with two ISA slots on the end. A video-card and internet-card will soon be available. The CENTurbo posseses also of a place to put a flash EPROM from 64 KB to integrate the boot of the new operating system "Dolmen", that will be integrated in the new Phenix040/060. The CENTurbo card is supplied with CENTscreen and CENTvidel software, so you can edit and change the different resolutions. These resolutions are possible : * 896*672*16/256 at 66 Hz * 1024*768*16/256 at 99 Hz (interlaced) * 1024*768*16/256 at 55 Hz (non-interlaced) * 640*480*True Color at 66 Hz (non-interlaced) CENTscreen integrates an ENERGYSTAR compatible screen economiseur, a mouse accelerator and the virual modes that work with Cubase. Imagine a partiture on 4000*2000 in which you can move horizontaly and verticaly. There are special prices for developpers,... contact MICRO VIDEO (Belgium) or CENTEK (France). o Midi ComŽdie from Mouscron (Belgium) showed us there great pieces of music they make with there Atari. They said it was a great experience to come to the Info-Day. If you would need more information about Midi ComŽdie, contact Jo Vandeweghe o N-2000 from France. o Studio Capitale from France showed "Studio Son", "Chrysalide" and "PraXis". There own products. Three software packages to work with sounds. Studio Son is a direct to disk recording en montage software for sound. This system works on 2 to 256 tracks and is developped for auditoria, film-theatres, audio-visual postproductions and musical studio's. The special package, PraXis, for radiostations allow the usage of a MultiCD juke-box. By adding diffirent modules you can improve the capacity of the package. My proper opinion is that we can call it a great day. I think we all may be proud to ourselfs. OK, there are things that could be done better, but for a first time we can't complain...
