The Fat Lady Sings Sadly I have to announce the closure of Atari Computing at the end of the year with AC#16. Our circulation can no longer sustain the huge effort required to produce each issue and the costs involved. Despite our recent success attracting new readers we're losing readers to other platforms faster than we can replace them. We have to accept there are not enough like-minded Atari enthuasists prepared to buy Atari Computing. Compounding the problem of falling sales changes in the family circumstances of Atari Computing staff have recently made putting together each issue and running the office increasingly difficult. We launched Atari Computing because we believed there was still life in the Atari marketplace and after three years we have the satisfaction of being proved right. We're proud of our achievements but all good things come to an end and we're planning to retire at the top. Although AC#16 will be the end for Atari Computing the resources we use to put each issue together are available on-line for everyone to take advantage of. Internet service providers are falling over themselves to offer free internet access so act now and get on-line and actively participate in the worldwide Atari scene. There are thousands of Atari webpages and places to download software and you'll find the Atari newsgroups a rich source of information. Best of all they'll be around for years to come so what are you waiting for? Don't forget we'll still be working hard producing Atari Computing until the end of the year, we intend to fulfill our commitment to produce that Millenium issue - which should become a real collector's item. We'll launch the Millenium issue at ACC '99, as part of our Millenium Party celebrations, so make a note in your diaries now to join us and collect your copy in person!
