** 1 page regular / 792 words ** Siteseeing Back In Time 92% http://www.emuclassics.com/backintime http://www.emulnews.com/backintime (mirror) ** BAKINTIM.GIF here ** These pages, put together by Mike Stulir, include coverage of all things Atari. It's a giant reference site covering everything from arcade machines/games through all the 8 and 16 bit machines, all the emulators to prototypes, including photos and sketches, which were never released. The site is well organised and although some of the pages are graphics intensive you're warned in advance and the pictures are well worth waiting for - there was some hardware in there I'd never seen or heard of before. The highlight of the site is Mike's Back In Time Radio Webcasts which feature news, reviews, and interviews. The guest on the first episode was Donald A. Thomas Jr. who discussed his days as the Marketing Director at Atari Corporation, the Tramiel family, the current state of classic gaming and computing, and his current responsibilities at VM Labs on the Nuon project. The second episode featured classic gaming and emulation chitchat with John Hardie, the co-promoter of the Classic Gaming Expo '99 which will take place in Las Vegas on August 14th and 15th 1999. John and Mike discussed ROMs, the IDSA, John's new book deal for Atari, classic gaming, and all of the details for the CGE. To listen to the webcasts you need to be able to handle Real Audio. There is an Atari utility capable of converting Real Audio to RAW format programmed by Petr Stehlik and it's available from the Joy Software home pages at: ** BC ** http://www.stehlik.cyberstrider.org/soft.htm ** /BC ** Alternatively you'll need a PC or Mac, and a copy of the Real Audio player which is a free download from Real Networks - there's a link on the Back In Time web site. --- Jo Even Skarstein 89% http://www-atari.nvg.ntnu.no/ ** JO_EVEN.GIF here ** One of the best things about the Atari scene is the dedication of people like Jo and his friends who push the envelope to the limits and share their results with other enthusiasts. There's a hardware modifications page which includes: ** UL ** * Falcon Afterburner/030 switch * Falcon DSP accelerator * Falcon FPU accelerator * Automatic Nova/Videl switch * Falcon bus accelerator, designed by Peter Green, the guy behind BSS's Nemesis! * Audio modification, a modified modification from the Cubase Audio manual. * Yamaha DB50XG soundcard for Falcon/ST/TT/etc * SCSI parity generator. If you have a SCSI-adapter that doesn't support parity this will fix it. ** /UL ** There's an N.AES support page with links to all the relevant companies and projects which anyone interested in N.AES and MiNT will surely have in their Hotlist already. Jo also has various software projects under development unsurprisingly aimed at N.AES and MiNT enthusiasts. Taskbar was one program I was aware of - it's installed on my Milan and works much like the Windows taskbar. Other programs available for download include: ** UL ** * V-Desk, adds virtual desktops to N.AES which take virtually no CPU time and co-operates with SMU (Start Me Up!). * Connexion, a GEM front end for pppd which works with N.AES, Geneva, oAESis or MultiTOS and displays a small GEM window which makes it possible to connect and disconnect with the click of a button and, while on-line, it displays a clock showing how long you've been on-line. * Mime2AV, used with Metamail, it passes file to the AV-server and lets it decide what program should display the file. * ToggleNVDI, for Nova+NVDI users - it automatically enables/disables NVDI's screen-drivers, depending whether NovaVDI is running or not. ** /UL ** Joe Connor --- ** 1 column news ** Site News ** HOMALOGO.GIF here ** The Homa Systems House website has recently been updated with new product upgrades and releases including Scan X Pro. There's support for the MOD file format (up to eight channels) along with it's own file format which is an extended version of the standard MOD file format with support for effects such as reverb and delay. The replay routine used in FlexTrax was first developed for the Willie's Adventures platform game. Both VGA and RGB monitors are supported.
