Macintosh to IBM/ST font converter Released into the Public Domain by MegaType Software, the folks who bring you Fontverter, and the Font Designer family of programs, to make your Desktop Publishing life more enjoyable and productive... MACIBM ver 1.0 converts Macintosh Type 1 format fonts to the format required by the ATARI ST, and IBM PC compatibles. Written originally for users of TYPE1CVT.PRG (from MegaType..$39.95), we decided it would be benificial to all ST DTP users. To use, simply select the font (.PFB") you wish to convert when the FILE SELECTOR appears, and in about 10-15 seconds, you will have an ST/IBM version of the same font, with the extender changed to ".PFZ". Rename as needed, and use as you would any other Type 1 font. Error checking is used, but the program can be fooled. Fonts brought over to the ST in two different ways have been tested: 1) UNSIT'ed in MAC mode using Spectre GCR by Gadget's by Small, then transverted over to the ST. Works GREAT. 2) UNSIT'ed on the ST by UNSIT.prg. This program has some major problems, but they can be worked around. I have found that having it installed as an application is the only way it works. Even then, it doesn't check for duplicate file names, and either the .AFM or PFB file usually gets overwritten, since the length of the MAC filename is not truncated before saving, but it is better than nothing.... If you find any fonts that don't work properly after converting, either give me a call at MegaType (219-288-7468) after 6:00, or mail the problem font on disk to me at MegaType, PO BOX 645, South Bend, IN 46624. If the font itself isn't the problem, an update will be made to the program to accomadate the font format in question. Thanks for your support.... Don @ Megatype (DFTURNOCK)
