Introduction To SampleMaker DISK 2 (Auxillary Disk)

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

This disk contains the SampleMaker Toolbox files (in directory TOOLBOX). Also
included are some sample .ALG files and .SMP files. Before proceeding, scan
the contents of this disk.

NOTE: in the SampleMaker Manual Addendum we mention copying the Atari Control
Panel accessory to the program (key) disk. Don't do this!!! There is not
quite enough room. You can, however, boot your ST with the contol panel and
still execute SampleMaker. That, however, is the only memory-resident program
you should have. SampleMaker will abort (painfully) if you have more desk
accessories (or a ram disk) installed.

If you have a color monitor, we urge you to get a monochrome monitor (it is
much better for doing these kinds of things). At any rate, you will notice
that when you boot up SampleMaker, it can't find the resource file for med.
resolution color (SMPMKRM.RSC). It is on this disk. You can copy this file
to another disk for safety. In fact, if you only plan on using a color
monitor, you can copy SMPMKRM.RSC to the key disk so it will be found. Before
doing so, however, copy the SMPMKRH.RSC file on the key disk to a backup
disk and delete the SMPMKRH.RSC file on the key disk. IF YOU DON'T DELETE
THAT FILE BEFORE COPYING THE MEDIUM RESOLUTION FILE, YOU WILL DESTROY THE
DISK BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR BOTH FILES!

This disk also contains several pre-made .INF files. See the readme file in
the INFS folder (INF.DOC) for more details. In general, you should find one
closest to your setup, edit it if you wish, rename it SMPMKR.INF, and then
copy it to the SampleMaker key disk in place of the existing file. BE VERY
CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS AS AN ERROR COULD DESTROY THE KEY DISK!

If you own a hard disk, you can copy SMPMKR.PRG, both of the resource files
(SMPMKRH.RSC and SMPMKRM.RSC), and the configuration file (SMPMKR.INF) to a
single folder and execute the program from there. However, you MUST have the
key disk inserted in drive A: before you start SampleMaker.

This disk contains the following folders/files:

LAST MINUTE INFO
----------------
This version of SampleMaker (v1.51) has the ability to send program changes
to midi patchbays. Only a few have been tested so far so some may not work
correctly. It is known to work correctly with the 360 Systems patchbay.
If you have problems, please contact us.

The way this feature works is fairly straightforward. Go to the "Configure"
menu and select the option to set up the patchbay. You choose the midi channel
for the patchbay and then the program change for each midi channel. If you
toggle the "Send program change" menu item on (so there is a check beside it),
SampleMaker will send the program change for the current midi channel on the
patchbay channel before every upload and download. You can also force the
program change to take place instantly by selecting the "Send program change
now" item.

Since this feature is primarily of benefit to those you have several samplers
connected to a midi patchbay, if you do not have this setup, make sure the
"Send program change" item is not selected (no check beside it).
