leetIRC for DOS v1.1 final (freeware by Mike Chambers) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Compiled: 12/16/2006 ABOUT =-=-= leetIRC is a DOS IRC client written in QuickBASIC. I made this because all DOS IRC clients that I've tried in the past are severely lacking in features and ease of use. I am a vintage computer hobbyist and also addicted to IRC chatting, so I chat from older machines often. USAGE =-=-= I've tried to make leetIRC as easy to use as possible, so you should not experience any real problems using it. The first time you run it (or if the LEETIRC.INI file has been deleted) you will be asked a few simple configuration questions such as what you would like to use as a default nickname, default user line, the TCPDRV interrupt value, and what filename you would like to use for chat logging. (Although you are asked for a file name, IRC logging is not enabled by default. You can toggle it on and off from the Options drop down menu.) Also, you can reconfigure leetIRC at any time by launching the program with the command line option /CONFIG Once leetIRC is configured, the commands and syntax are more or less the same as if you were using mIRC for Windows. If you are unfamiliar with mIRC, or are otherwise having usage difficulties, you can type /HELP at any time inside the client to display a full command list. You can also get extended help on any of the commands by typing /HELP followed by the name of the command. IMPORTANT: You must load a packet driver for your network card or dial-up connection, and then the NTCPDRV.EXE program before launching leetIRC. (NTCPDRV.EXE is included in this distribution, but you'll need to find a specific packet driver for your network card on your own. A good place to look is http://www.crynwr.com/drivers ) CHANGE LOG =-=-=-=-=- 12/16/2006: v1.1 (current) - Added server directory list dialog box. - Fixed bug that causes "Out of String Space" error when an incoming message is too long. 12/14/2006: v1.0 - Original release. I would love to hear from anybody who enjoys my client, so don't be shy about simply dropping me a note for no reason! :)
