Surf Spy V1.0 Manual
--------------------
Surf Spy is an invisible tool that monitors the Internet
activity on your computer. It captures the link (URL) of every
visited web site and stores it to a log file.
Surf spy runs on Windows 95/98/2000/NT.

Installation
------------
Surf Spy is simple to use and install. Installing Surf Spy
takes less than 30 seconds. No configurations are necessary!

1) Use Winzip to extract the files to a directory of choice.
2) Run surfspy.exe.

Now Surf Spy is installed and running. Every time the computer
is turned on, Surf Spy will start to run. It's as simple as
that!

If you don't have winzip, it can be downloaded for free at
www.winzip.com

Hint: If you want to hide the Surf Spy from users, choose a
directory that is hard to find!

About the registered and demo version
-------------------------------------
The registered version is invisible. That is, it will not
show in the start menu or in the add/remove programs menu.
On Windows 95 and 98 it will not show in the Task Manager
either. The demo version is fully functional apart from it
cannot be made invisible.

Uninstalling
------------
Run the uninstall.bat file. This script will:

1) Stop the execution of the Surf Spy.
2) Remove all Surf Spy entries from the registry.
3) Remove all Surf Spy files, excluding logfile.html and
   uninstall.bat.

After running the uninstall.bat file you may safely remove
the remaining files.

About the log file
------------------
Surf Spy logs every visited link (URL) to a file called
logfile.html, created in the Surf Spy directory.
The log file is best viewed with an Internet browser. To do this,
start Explorer and go to the Surf Spy directory. Double-click
on logfile.html. The file should now show up in your Internet
browser.

You may remove the log file at any time. The Surf Spy
will create a new log file when an URL is logged.

Command line arguments
----------------------
Some arguments can be given to the surfspy.exe file. Use a
command prompt (MS-DOS for example) to run the Surf Spy with
arguments.

surfspy -unreg
This argument removes Surf Spy from the registry. The Surf Spy
will not start when rebooting the computer.

surfspy -kill
This argument stops Surf Spy from executing.

Final Words
