What's New in Version 08.00.01 of Solid Edge
-----------------------------------------------
Solid Edge Version 08.00.01 service pack contains the
improvements listed below:

  Assembly
corrected a problem where Assembly Relationships were not updating in
assembly after certain part commands were the last commands used,
while inplace activated, before returning to assembly
corrected a problem where the return of focus to the user following
executing the rotate command took longer in v8 than in v7
provided a fix to workaround a Wildcat graphics driver problem that
resulted in an abort - the problem has been reported to the card
manufacturer but the Solid Edge fix avoids the situation
corrected a problem where a performance degradation occured when
the user referenced the delivered images in a path different than
    the default delivery location
corrected a problem that resulted in an abort in Family of Parts/EdgeBar
only on Japanese Windows 98 operating systems
corrected a problem when the Pathfinder window was dismissed, parts
could not be deleted from an assembly without reactivating Pathfinder
corrected a problem where patterned parts were not updating properly
    when the parent pattern changed
corrected a problem where Part Copy would not update when selecting
    the Update All command
corrected a specific situation where Parts linked to Layout in 6.0.0.28
could not be updated with V6 SP1 nor SP3
corrected a problem where opening a Solid Edge Draft file with an
assembly file in it and in place activating the assembly file, then
selecting the edge bar resulted in an abort

  Tubing
corrected a problem when the value of an axis dimension is changed,
    the XpresPath segment reverses direction

  Simply Motion
corrected a problem in Player where retrace aborts after several
    cycles of animation

  Part/Profile/Sheetmetal
corrected a specific situation where creating a protrusion from a
sketch and Undo/Redo resulted in a sick parent
corrected a problem when using insert part copy with X_T files that
contain wires that produce non-manifold bodies when imported
resulted in producing too many construction features as represented
by too many part copy entries in the Feature Pathfinder
corrected problems with non-feature library files that are copied
from Feature Library then pasted into a document - one symptom of
this problem is that if a part file that contains multiple features
that were created from the same sketch is copied through the
Feature Library, then pasted into a new document, only one profile
would exist that all the features are dependent on - in SP1 there
is now a different profile for each feature
corrected a specific situation when there is more than one family of
parts member part copy open at the same time when an update occurs
    it resulted in an abort
corrected a problem where too many levels of detail were being saved
in some part files resulting in larger than necessary files
corrected a problem where dragging a feature in Edgebar onto a feature
with a warning resulted in an abort
corrected a problem in Revision Manager where if a document containing
inter-part copies is opened in Revision Manager, the Show Parents
dialog is blank - if the same document is opened in Solid Edge,
    Inter-part Manager does display parents

  Draft
corrected a problem where saving a SE Draft file containing
text resulted in an abort on Windows98 only
corrected a specific problem where opening this file containing
a section view showed zingers and the Parts List did not display
corrected a problem where Drawing Views cannot be updated when
the sheet metal model and the flat have the same name
corrected a problem where parts are not sorted correctly in parts list
when multiple occurances or where not all occurances are included in the
    parts list
corrected a problem where a vertex could not be added to a leader line -
the problem was fixed in the API and in Solid Edge
corrected a problem where starting into Solid Edge Assembly on double byte
character language Windows98 operating systems only resulted in an abort
when attemting to save a file
corrected a performance issue when deleting or exiting drawing views
from within a file that contains a large number of model links.

  Translators
corrected a situation where dimensions with the Dimension Type set
to Class ( h7 )or ClassPlusMinus (class with tolerance h7+/- )
did not translate out to AutoCAD DXF or DWG formats
corrected a problem where Save as DXF or DWG output the compliment
of an arc when clipped by a detail view
corrected a problem with writing comma delimited line widths from
the AutoCAD Wizard to the configuration file, which resulted in
line width values being truncated when read back into SE-Draft
corrected a problem where fonts represented as decimal codes in
AutoCAD's DXF, or DWG were not read into Draft

  API
corrected a problem where OccurrenceDoc.Close after OccurrenceDoc
has been in SelectSet leads to abort
re-ordered the parameters to the new AssemblyDocument.CheckInterference
API to comply with Microsoft requirements

  3D Input Devices
corrected a problem where Spaceball would not work the second time
entering SE after reboot on some machines

Training
--------
Instructor-led training for the Solid Edge product is optional,
but highly recommended. It is also recommended that the on-line
delivered Educational Media tools be used to become familiar
with Solid Edge. A complete set of instructor-led training
courses is offered for each module in the product. These
courses are offered for users who wish to increase their
productivity in the use of Solid Edge.

The Solid Edge courses available are:

TR01413 Solid Edge Fundamentals
TR01414 Solid Edge Modeling Strategies
TR01415 Solid Edge Assembly

Solid Edge Fundamentals

This 4 day course will focus on making the novice user aware
of the potential uses of production level solid modeling. The
focus of this course is on the fundamental skills and concepts
central to the use of Solid Edge.

At Course Completion:
Students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge to design
production level parametric models of parts, sheet metal design,
assemblies, detail drawings and document management. They
will also be familiar with the Solid Edge user interface, adding
features, sketching tools and various modeling techniques.

Solid Edge Modeling Strategies

This (3) day course is designed to take the experienced Solid
Edge users to a higher level of productivity. Learn the workflows
and modeling tools that make modeling cast, machined,
sheetmetal, and plastic parts more productive. The instructor will
introduce areas of focus for each modeling workflow and then
reinforce this topic with well-designed lab exercises.

At Course Completion:
Students will have improved their overall Solid Edge modeling
skills. They will have learned the finer points of profile/sketch
creation, learned to classify and the breakdown a part, and then
apply the necessary workflow within Solid Edge to aid in
efficiently modeling the part. Also learned would be the more
detailed use of features such as, variable table, rounding,
patterning, divide part, add draft, and many more. Overall, the
student will be able show an increase in productivity by more
efficient use of Solid Edge thus reducing the design cycle time.

Solid Edge Assembly
This (3) day course is targeted at the novice to intermediate user
who will create assemblies from Solid Models. The class will
cover all of the commands available in the assembly environment
along with two assembly methods: Top-Down and Bottom-Up.
Users will learn how to assemble and edit parts that already exist,
and how to create a part within an assembly. Specialized Topics
such as exploded views, cutaway views, rendering, Simply motion
and XpressRoute will also be covered. The user will receive
hands-on activities to reinforce the concepts.
