Installing / Converting Tame(tm) 3.0 GoldPaint

Summary of installation:

  1) Unarchive the tar or zip file into the tameroot directory.
  2) Copy tame to the cgi-bin and make sure it's executable.
  3) Browser access !install.tam and follow wizards instructions.

First, about the "tameroot" directory:

The tameroot directory is the root of the directory tree where tame
keeps all it's data files and source code files.

The tameroot directory is often named "tame" and, because sensitive
customer data and configuration information is stored there, the tameroot
should never be under the web document area. It can be inside a user's
account, or in the server admin directory, or virtually any other
relatively secure place other than in the web document tree.

...tame -+--- global
         |
         +--- goldpaint.com (mirror)

Under the tameroot directory is a directory named "global".
Unarchive your archive file into your tameroot directory with
directory recursion active. This should create your global directory
and fill it with the global files.

Also under the tameroot is a mirror of the web document structure called
the tame mirror tree. This directory is named "mirror" in single domain
systems and has the domain name in multiple domain systems. This directory
will be created by the install wizard. If you are reinstalling an update,
take note of the name of your mirror tree as the install wizard will be
asking for it.

Next, locate your cgi-bin and copy the tame binary to the cgi-bin directory.
On UNIX/BSD systems the binary is the file named "tame". On NT, the binary
is named "tame.exe". On UNIX/BSD systems the executable bits may need to be
turned on for the binary file by typing "chmod ugo+x tame".

Finally, run the web install wizard by accessing the following URL with your
browser. (Browser with table support required, Netscape recommended)

UNIX/BSD http://yourdomain/cgi-bin/tame/!install.tam
WinNT http://yourdomain/cgi-bin/tame.exe/!install.tam
WinNT IIS http://yourdomain/scripts/tame.exe/!install.tam?

If your server requires extra path elements to access your cgi-bin then
include them in the above url.

Follow the install wizard's instructions.
