                              Overview

"PurgeIE" is a Shareware utility program designed to help maintain the
Cache and Cookie files and to remove one's Tracks for Internet
Explorer 4.0, or higher, whether running on Windows 95, Windows 98 or
NT 4.0.

"PurgeIE" offers several options in its fresh approach to the cleanup
of Internet Explorer files:

First, a distinction is made between Subscription Cache and
Non-Subscription Cache. These can be purged individually.

Second, the user has the option to specify a "minimum time since last
use" for purging Subscription Cache and for purging Non-Subscription
Cache.

Third, Internet Explorer's primary INDEX.DAT files are properly
updated without deleting them. This is done in a manner consistent
with the design of Internet Explorers Cache system that was
implemented beginning with Version 4.0. This avoids the requirement
for "rebooting" that other such utility programs require for their
deleting the primary INDEX.DAT files.

Fourth, an option is provided for deleting "Stray" Cache and Cookie
files. These are files for which the index pointers have been lost
within the INDEX.DAT files.

Fifth, a convenient method is provided for "protecting Cookies" from
its purge function.

Sixth, this utility can also be viewed as a Track Cleaning utility as
it has functions for deleting the user's tracks that Internet Explorer
deposits in various Cache files, the INDEX.DAT files, the History
Folders, the Windows Temporary files and the Registry.

Seventh, a Preview option is provided to enable the user to preview
the effect of each of the Purge options.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

One enthusiastic user of PurgeIE, utilizes the Protect feature to
protect Cache files. She apparently likes to play some of the Internet
games that download into Cache. She explained that some of these games
take forever to download and that PurgeIE provided a means to retain
them in her Cache. Otherwise, the games would have to be reloaded due
to being deleted from Cache.

                         One-Step Execution

A One-Step execution option was implemented in Version 2.01. This is
accessed by the "Purge with Current Options" Icon provided in the
Distribution package. The program parameter used for this is "auto".

PurgeIE executes the 'Purge' function with the 'saved Purge options'.
A splash screen is used for this execution. The standard Window opens
only if any errors are detected. If there are no errors, the program
terminates when execution is completed.

Use of the One-Step execution is not recommended until you feel
comfortable with your choice of program options.
