3DEM80 produces OpenGL rendered landscape scenes, flyby
animations, and VRML worlds from freely available USGS
Digital Elevation Model (DEM) files, Global 30 Arc Second
Elevation Data Set (GTOPO30 DEM) files, Global Land One-km
Base Elevation (GLOBE DEM) files, NASA Mars Digital
Topographic Map (DTM) files, or any topographic data file
which is organized by rows and columns of elevation data.

3DEM80 produces 16 or 24 bit color 3D projections, red-blue
projections requiring red-blue 3D glasses for viewing, or
Liquid Crystal Shutter (LCS) interlaced projections for use
with LCS 3D glasses. Completed scenes can be saved as
Windows bitmaps or jpeg images for transfer to other
applications. Flybys can be saved as mpeg-1 animation files.
Any terrain area can also be saved as a VRML world file.
Full color, high resolution VRML models can be created for
any area of the world for which DEM data is available.

3DEM80 can merge multiple DEMs to provide high-resolution
overhead maps and 3D projections of large surface areas,
limited only by the computer's memory. Geographic
coordinates (latitude and longitude) are shown on all
overhead view map displays. Both Lat-Lon and UTM coordinates
are supported, allowing display and measurement of position
to high accuracy. Global Positioning System (GPS) waypoints
can be read and displayed on images and flybys of the
terrain, allowing you to record and display the path of a
trek through the wilderness.

The unregisted version of 3DEM80 allows you to load and view
OpenGL 3D projections and flybys of Digital Elevation Model
(DEM) terrain. Registration will enable the program's image
save and file save capabilities, allowing terrain, 3D
images, and flyby animations to be saved as files and used
in other applications.

Registration is accomplished by entering a User Name and
User Key in the registration dialog box which appears when
the program is started. Once registered, a user may
download frequent program updates at no charge and is
entitled to free email technical support from the author.
