BETA VERSION 3 - 1999-12-16

This is a public BETA release of Texturizer, which means that it's
not supported. Don't expect this version to be error-free! Please
report any bugs that you discover to djst@revolt.com.

If you previously were running version 1.7 Beta 1, then you must
delete this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DJST Productions\Texturizer\Syntax
If you don't know how to do this, then don't use this beta version!

The changes in 1.7 Beta 3 are:

* Update: STX files now only accept one keyword per line
This will allow spaces, tabs and linefeeds in keywords
(for instance, don't highlight 'DJST' or 'Productions' alone,
  but highlight 'DJST Productions')
If you have created your own STX files, you must update them
* New: STX file for Texturizer Macros
* New: Ability to copy and cut in Rich Text Format (preserving
Syntax Highlighting colors in word processors)
* Update: More keywords in Perl 5, Java, Visual Basic and CFG
* Update: No syntax highlighting for the Clipboard Editor
* Update: Texturizer can now apply syntax highlighting on binary
* Update: Slightly changed the default STX colors
files too (i.e. files containing null characters)
* Bug fix: E-mail highlighting didn't work if the e-mail started
at the first character in the document
* Bug fix: After pressing OK in the Options window, Texturizer
could apply a wrong syntax highlighting language on the file
* Bug fix: Line Comment 2 Color was not displayed correctly in
  the Options window
* Bug fix: Texturizer could stop responding if keys were pressed
  while applying syntax highlighting
* Bug fix: Small file tabs glitch

The big news in version 1.7 are Syntax Highlighting and Sound
Events support. The S.H. is fully configurable and is described
in syntax files (*.stx), one file for each language. Feel free to
create your own syntax files and send them to me if you find them
useful and, hopefully, correct for that particular language.

As you should be able to see below, URLs are highlighted in this
version too. This feature is part of the Syntax Highlighter module.

In this version, you can add sounds on many events. The sounds are
changed in Sound Properties in the Control Panel. Default is not to
use any sounds at all, since it can be annoying for first-time users.
Personally I'm starting to like the computer blips every time I type
a character... :)

TEXTURIZER INSTALLATION

All files in this archive should be placed in the
working directory of Texturizer (normally
C:\Program Files\DJST Productions\Texturizer). Select
Tools|Options in the menu and click on the Advanced
tab to view or change this directory.

Make sure Texturizer is not running while replacing the
files. If a Texturizer icon appears in the system tray,
right click on the icon and select Exit.

IMPORTANT NOTES

If you have replaced Notepad.exe with Texturizer, then you must
replace the file again. Otherwise, you will still be running the
old version of Texturizer. A better alternative would be to
download the small Notepad.exe replacement from
http://softwarecenter.net/texturizer.

If Texturizer displays an error message every time you try to start
it after this update procedure, it probably means that you don't
have the latest required system files. In order to fix this, you
need to download and install the full installation instead.

KNOWN ISSUES

If the system you are installing Texturizer on has an old version
of OleAut32.dll, the installation program will not be able to
replace the file with a new version and Texturizer will not be able
to run. In order to fix this problem, you must download the VB6
runtimes, which you can find at the following URL: http://support.microsoft.com/download/support/mslfiles/Vbrun60.exe
When the file is downloaded, run it to replace the old system file
and restart the computer. Texturizer should then run without any
problems.

If you have any other problems, feel free to send an e-mail
to djst@revolt.com with a detailed description of the problem.
