1. Product Description
-----------------------
Phone Plus is a full featured telephone dialer with optional Caller ID
and speakerphone support. You can organize names, numbers, addresses,
and other information in multiple user-defined phone books and dial
using a standard Data/Fax modem. Other features include automatic
redial of busy numbers, and call logging. Caller ID lets you know who
is calling before you answer. Announce the caller's name using speech
synthesis. A flashing icon in the system tray lets you know that calls
were logged while you were away from the computer. With Pager
Notification you can be automatically paged when someone calls your
home or office. Place and receive calls using the full featured
speakerphone. See the help file for a complete list of available
features. Phone Plus is TAPI compliant and can share your modem with
other TAPI programs.

-----------------------
2. System Requirements
-----------------------
- 486/33 or higher to use text-to-speech option
- Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 95/98 or 2000
- 5 MB (minimum) of free disk space
- TAPI 2.1 or higher

In addition, the Caller ID and Speakerphone features require:
- A TAPI compliant modem with Caller ID or speakerphone functionality
- Caller ID service from your phone company
- Microsoft(r) Unimodem/V universal modem driver

The Unimodem requirement is only a concern if you are using an early
version of Windows 95. If so, an update is available. Windows 95
users will need to install the TAPI 2.1 update. Both of these updates
are available at http://www.imptec.com/support.htm.

Phone Plus will run on Windows NT, however the version of Unimodem
provided with Windows NT does not support Caller ID or a speakerphone.

----------------
3. Installation
----------------
If you are updating a previous version of Phone Plus, do not uninstall
the old version. This would remove the configuration settings. Simply
install this new version over the old one. Be sure the old version is
not running when installing the new one, or you will need to restart
Windows to finish the installation.

First, extract the files to a temporary directory. You can delete this
directory when setup has completed. Run Setup.exe and follow the
instructions. Use one of these methods to run Setup.exe:

- Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type the full path of the
temporary directory followed by a backslash and the name of the
installation program (e.g., C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE). Press the ENTER key.
- Use My Computer or the Explorer to find the Setup.exe file. Double-
click the icon to run it.

To uninstall Phone Plus simply double-click "Add/Remove programs" in
the control panel, select Phone Plus in the list, and click the
"Add/Remove" button. After uninstalling you will need to manually
remove the Phone Plus directory and any files left in it since the
uninstall does not remove any data files or temporary files that were
created.

9. What's New
--------------
Listed here are the changes and new features in this version.

- Phone Plus now uses a newer version of TAPI for compatibility with
  Windows 2000.
- If you change the width of the column headers in the Call Log,
Phone Plus will now save the settings when you close the program.
- Changed the call duration timers so they are now more accurate.
- Added tooltips to several buttons.
- Fixed some minor bugs.

The following changes affect Caller ID users:

by the Caller ID that the call is from an unwanted caller, you can
simply click this button to have Phone Plus play a message to the
  caller and hang up.
- A new "Log on pop-up close button" option forces Phone Plus to
  always log incoming calls.
- A new "Allow call handoff" option allows you to disable this feature
  for compatibility with distinctive ring.
- You can now disable the pop-up window if desired.
