the zip file

the /bin directory of the JVM, and the CLASSPATH the runtime classes otherwise
set them.
For instance if you
have the JRE in the /var/local/JRE the PATH will be:
PATH=/var/local/JRE/bin
then the CLASSPATH will
be:
CLASSPATH=/var/local/JRE/lib/rt.jar

-add to the CLASSPATH the CF.zip
file of the installation directory/classes. Let's assume you
installed CatchFiles
in the /usr/CatchFiles directory, the new CLASSPATH will be:
CLASSPATH=/var/local/JRE/lib/rt.jar:/usr/CatchFiles/classes/CF.zip
- Reboot the system
YOU INSTALL ON WINDOWS

directory and then run the Setup.bat file, then follow the
instruction of
the Setup program.

To run the program under Windows (either W95-W98
or NT) click on one of the start files in the installation directory or
on
the Desktop (the files names are CF and CFMonitor)
Run under Linux

item as shown in the above image. will appear a new smaller window:
| <==== Here insert the address of the file you want to retrieve | |
| In the blue area, during the download will be shown a few information such as the downloaded bytes, the total length of the file, the average download rate and the expected time of downloading. In addition if the server doesn't support resuming, an advise will be printed. | |
| In this yellow area, the server from which you are downloading will send a few information. This is particularly useful if there are problems. For instance when downloading from an FTP server, the server will advise in this area if the server is busy, if the password is wrong etc... |
Then click on the start button, a Save as... Dialog will appear

The program already propose you the name of the file in the default directory (will see later how to change it). You can of course override the proposed name and insert one as you like or change the directory..
At this point Click on the button "Save" that will be disabled(sorry I have the Italian Windows95 version "Salva") and the download will start. If you are not already connected to the net, the program will launch your default dial-up connection.
Start a download from your favourite browser

To resume an interrupted download go to the ResumeList, then you have two options:
Select the row relating to the file you want to resume, then click again on the selected row.
To interrupt a download, just click on the "Stop" button that will be enabled when starting the download, if this is the first time that you downloaded that file, the relevant data will be added automatically to the ResumeList.
To delete a file, select the row relating to the file you want to delete, then from the Menu "File" choose delete or click on the icon representing a recycle-bin. The system will prompt you to confirm the deletion. At this point both the row of the ResumeList and the file will be cancelled.
You can set various preferences to customize the program as you prefer. You will find herebelow a description of all preferences you can set.
To set preferences, open the ResumeList(image 1) then from the "Edit" menu choose "Options". A new window will be presented.

We have 4 panels in the preference Frame. In each panel you can set various prefernces.
General
In the general panel, you see three Text Fields although the first is
not editable and shows the installation directory.
1) You can set the download directory, by setting it when opening the
Save dialog the program will open as a default in such
directory.
2) The registration code: when you obtain it, you can enter the code
here so that you can use the program beyond the 30 days
trial.
Connections
In the connection panel you can set four parameters:
1) The timeout - "Wait before retrying" is the time that the program
waits between attempts to download the file
2) Number of tries. The maximum number of times that the program
will try to connect to the server.
3) Find IP Method.
When downloading files
from FTP servers, the server must know your IP address to send you
the file. Usually the "Auto"
option will work perfectly,
however in certain cases (expecially working with workstations) the program
is unable to
recognize your IP
address.
If you have a fixed
IP address, select the "Fixed" option. A text field will appear. You can
enter there the IP address in
the form of 4 numbers
separated by a point (e.g. 125.158.1.10).
If you have a dynamic
IP or simply you don't know you can select the option "Search". In the
text field type your E-Mail
server (the one you
write in your E-Mail client such as Eudora, Outlook, Netscape messenger
etc..). If you don't have an
E-mail, you can type
any mail server. Usually a mail server address is a 3 words address starting
with "mail" (e.g. mail.
yourserver.com). This
is valid for most famous WebSpace providers. In Windows95 and Windows98
leave the "Auto"
option selected, if
you cannot download from FTP servers, you can change the setting from the
Options settings later.
4) Automatic reconnection. By checking this box the program will
try to reconnect any time the server disconnect the
download.
From the "Downloads" Panel :
1) E-mail address for anonymous FTP. It is needed to download from FTP
servers.
2) Max downloads at same time. The maximum number of downloads that
the system can perform at the same time.
3) View Files after downloading. If you choose yes the program opens
with the default program the just downloaded file, if you
choose prompt you will be prompted for an
action.
From the "Graphics" Panel
1) Show Text-Area; choosing yes in the download windows will be shown
information sent from the server, it can be useful if
you don't manage to download to understand what
is going on.
