REQUIREMENTS.
-------------
Windows NT 4.00 Server or WorkStation (Service Pack 4 or 5 very recommended).
Good news!! NTsu also works in Windows 2000 RC2.

INSTALL and UNINSTALL
---------------------
To install NTsu you must be logged in with Administrator privileges.

Extract the file NTsu20.exe and copy or move it to the folder you like: for example to c:\winnt\system32

To install:
From the start menu or a command console run: NTsu20 -Install.
NTsu installs itself like a service. You must not move the file NTsu20.exe once you installed it.

To uninstall:
From the start menu or a command console run: NTsu20 -Uninstall.
This doesnt remove the Ntsu20.exe file from the system, you must delete it by hand.

REMOTE INSTALLATION
-------------------
To install or uninstall NTsu on remote computers in your NT domain you can use the NTsu Installer utility, free available at http://teleline.terra.es/personal/quimeras/ntsu.
With this utility you can install NTsu all over your NT network.

USING NTsu.
-----------
Once you have NTsu installed and running, to access the NTsu dialog press CTRL+ALT+U.

Options: You can run a program or open a new desktop.

Enter the username and passord, optionally you can enter a domain, but if you don't the username and password are evaluated in the local machine and then in the current domain.

If you run a program the program is created on the actual desktop. You can drop a file on the "program" combobox to avoid writing the full path and filename. If you run new processes from Winfile, cmd or other applications, the new processes will run in the security context of the parent process. If you close the parent process you will not be able to run new programs from the childs processes. NTsu runs in the security context of Local System account, so NTsu can not access network resources.

Running a program in a remote machine. Checking the "Run remote" box, the program will run in the remote machine especified in the "Machine" editcontrol (before "Domain" editcontrol). For security reasons you only can do this if you enter an administrator account.

Choosing to open a new desktop you will obtain a complete new desktop with the security context and profile of the user you type in. To switch from one desktop to another double clik on the "Desktops in use" list box or click the "Switch" button. You can click on the "whoami" button if you are not sure in what desktop you are. Also the actual desktop is highlighted. You can select a desktop and click on the "logoff user" button to close that desktop and logoff the user.

Running a System console. Well, I have been using this for a long for myself and Ithink this can be very usefull to you. Run a command console as Local System account, then you can run taskmgr to kill services that are not responding or run pview and see all the system processes features. Other suggestions: spy++, process viewer, ...
You only can run cmd as System account if you intro an Administrator account.

By default the "username" and "program" comboboxes save the last ten entries, you can change this behaviour from the "config" button.

COMMAND LINE AND REMOTE UTILIZATION
-----------------------------------
To help admins, there is a command line and remote utilization of NTsu. This is very usefull especially to include commands in scripts files.

From the command line in a remote machine run:

NTsu20 targetmachine domain username password program

This will run "program" (for example a script) on the "targetmachine" in the security context defined by "domain", "username" and "password". NTsu must be installed on the target machine. This works only if you enter a current domain administrator or a local administrator in the target machine. No response is returned and no errors are reported (this will be improved very soon).

Note that you can issue commands like:

NTsu20 . "" username password "program option1 option2"

this will run the command line "program option1 option2" in the local machine, in the security context of "username" on the current domain. Use your knowledge.
