1.0 Product overview
====================
Mocha Pocket TN3270 is an application for the Palm Computing(R) Platform.
There is support for PALM OS 3 and Palm Pilot III or newer.

Mocha Pocket TN3270 makes it possible to connect to an IBM mainframe
system via TCP/IP with the TN3270 protocol and emulate a 3287 terminal.

2.0 Functionality
=================
 - Supports all standard 3270 emulation features 
 - Auto login
 - Possible to use Graffiti or build in keyboard. 
 - User defined macros.
 - Use Scroll and hardware buttons on the PalmPilot
   as cursor keys (+ NEXT FIELD and ENTER).
 - Screen size 24*80. Possible to navigate the view moving a 
   small screen window.
 - 2 font types, giving a view screen size 16*32 or 24*40 characters.
 - A tab on a function key text as F3=Cancel will work as a 
   real function key.
 - Supports 5 different EBCDIC codepages

The TN3270 screen contains a large view window for the 3270
terminal (16*32 or 24*40 characters) and at the bottom are a set 
of buttons plus a small window

on     : Make a session to the IBM Mainframe
off    : Close a session
status : shows the status of the tn3270 emulator. A Tap on the
         field gives a help screen. Possible status modes:

           X : X-WAIT wait on the IBM Host
           E : Error. As an example if entering text in a protected
               area of the 3270 screen
           A : ASCII mode. If in session with a normal Telnet host
           I : Insert mode

keys   : select a function key in the pop-up list
keys   : more keys to select
macros : select a macro in the pop-up list
window : Tap or move the small window to change the view of
         the 3270 terminal window. 

2.1 Connecting/Disconnecting
============================

Tap on the On/Off buttons at the lower left part of the screen to
control a session with the IBM host. 

A Tap on "on" will start a session with the IBM host. If there is not 
already defined an IP address for the IBM host, a dialog window will 
pop-up asking for an IBM host name. Enter an IP address and a port number. 
The default port number for the TN3270 protocol is 23.

It is possible to select "Show Negotiation".  Using this option
will display the TN3270 protocol information's. It should only
be used in a debugging situation.


2.2 Macros
==========
In the menu - Options - Macros it is possible to define some
simple macros. A Macro is just a text which is send to the 
IBM host (plus an ENTER command), when the user select 
the macro from the pop-up list.


2.3 Hardware buttons
====================
It is possible to use the hardware buttons on the PalmPilot
to navigate the IBM application.

A PalmPilot has 5 hardware keys with following use in Mocha Pocket TN3270:


NEXT-FIELD  LEFT  UP/DOWN   RIGHT   ENTER

It is not possible to change this selection.

2.4 Auto Login
==============
To make it easier for the novice to use Mocha Pocket TN3270 to connect 
to a single host, it is possible to define an automatic login sequence.
Of course there is not much security involved doing it!

In menu - options - Auto login, it is possible to define the text
for the User and Password fields

3.0 Limitations
===============
As to the limited screen and keyboard on a PalmPilot organizer
following limitations compared to a real 3270 type terminal
has been implemented:

    - Supports only PALM OS 3.x or later. 
    - only 24*80 screen mode (IBM 3278-2)
    - no color or blink

You Palm Pilot must have access to a PPP network. Either with a
modem or a cable connected direct to a host with PPP support. It
is not possible to use the HotSync software to get a connection
to an IBM mainframe.

4.0 License System
=================
The license system for Mocha Pocket TN3270 is very user friendly. It is
possible to run in Demo mode for some time to test the product. At every 
session start the program, will tell it is a Demo. Otherwise there
will be no limitations to the product.
