CoolStrip Overview

When we released our HotStrip applet, it quickly became our most popular product by a mile. The #1 request from users has since been "Can I have one that works in a vertical frame?".  Although HotStrip and HotStrip Professional can't just be 'turned on their side', we've produced CoolStrip as a menu with a similar style, bags of functionality and our usual wealth of customization options.

CoolStrip is a menu of clickable text-links arranged in a vertical column. Each entry on the menu can open up to 4 URLs into 4 different frames, and display an optional message in the browser statusbar when focused. An unlimited number of entries can be included.

CoolStrip has a variety of user-feedback options. Menu entries can react to mouseOver/mouseDown by changing color; a selector-bar can highlight the focussed entry; a scrolling arrow can follow the mouse up and down the menu; an image can be displayed above the menu for each entry; sounds can be specified for mouseDown/mouseUp. These options may be used individually, or together in any combination. As you'd expect from Cool Focus, all colors are user-definable, as is the font, the spacing between menu entries, and the alignment of entries.

A colored backing strip can be placed behind the menu entries, and a vertical line placed beside them, along which the arrow slides (if used). Once again, the colors for these are definable. You can choose whether the line and arrow should appear to the left or right of the menu entries. A Testmode parameter makes it quick and easy to determine the best minimum dimensions for the applet.

NEW in V2.1!  ActiveMenu now includes a TileBgImage parameter, allowing a small background image to be tiled to fill the applet area.
