1)  What is ACID2000 ?

ACID2000 is an Advanced Caller ID detector, voice manager and telephone
answering machine for voice modems. It's 32-bit application which may
reside in the system taskbar tray awaiting incoming voice calls.
ACID2000 is compatible with several Caller ID schemes: Bellcore (American,
used in many countries, including USA, Canada, Australia, etc.,
also called CND or ICLID); Type II (Off-Hook) Caller ID with ID delivered
after going off-hook; British Telecom (BT) CLIP; Russian ANI (Automatic
Number Identification; RCID, off-hook Caller ID scheme with information
received after going off-hook); different Type II hardware caller ID
schemes.

As an answering machine the program can record messages and play them back
through the modem, handset or sound card. It can also monitor conversation,
feeding the sound card in real time.

2)  System requirements

 - Windows NT (recommended) or Windows 2000, Windows 95 OSR2 or Windows 98.
 - MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher is expected for context-help.
 - CPU: Pentium or higher recommended, but not required.
 - Voice modem: see below for list of compatible modems. (ACID2000 does NOT
   use TAPI; it makes it work under NT and takes less memory; however, not
   all modems are compatible).

3)  Compatible modems

ACID2000 has been tested and is compliant with these modems:
 - All U.S.Robotics (3COM) Voice modems, including Sportster brand
   (28.8, 33,6 and 56k);
 - Limited support (Caller ID only, NO telephone answering machine)
   for U.S.Robotics (3COM) Courier modems;
 - Rockwell-compatible modems (including, but not limited to, Rockwell-based
   ACORP modems, Rockwell-based ZyXEL modems, Hayes and some other);
 - Pace (both Rockwell- and AT&T (IS-101)-based)
 - Texas Instruments-based modems (i.e., ACORP 56k Voice TI);
 - GVC modems;
 - Multitech voice modems;
 - ZyXEL voice modems;
 - IS-101 (AT&T), Windows modems (including, but not limited to, Rockwell,
   Lucent (AT&T), Cirrus Logic, Creative (through WinModem Rockwell));
 - IDC modems (both voice and data/fax models).
 Following devices are supported but not tested:
 - PCTel and compatible;
 - Hayes Accura;
 - MultiTech;
 - Cirrus Logic.

4)  Installation procedure

If you are upgrading from ACID2000 1.7 BETA or any prior release, please
delete the previous release from your computer before installing this one.
Otherwise some older files will remain in the ACID2000 folder.

To install, create target directory (i.e., C:\Program Files\acid2000), unpack
corresponding .zip archive, run setup.exe and follow standard installation
procedure.

After files are installed and you run the program for the first time, you will
be prompted for COM port number, modem name (or chipset manufacturer)
and type of Caller ID you will use (American CID is general option; for Russia,
select Russian CID).

5)  Un-installation procedure

To uninstall, exit the program and run 'Uninstall' from the Windows Start menu.
After than you may need to manually remove wave files you recorded from Inbox
subfolder.

6)  Online documentation available

Further information and documentation is in aon32.chm file,
an MS Compressed HTML file. If you cannot start this file, you probably
don't have MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. In that case you should either
install Internet Explorer or download the special help file version for non-IE
browsers (it will use Java applet to display itself). In the second case
there will not be any context help available - only documentation in HTML
files.

7) Shareware notice, limitations and pricing

See Order.txt for registration details and pricing.

The program is Shareware. This means that you can evaluate the program for a
period of 30 days, after which you should either register (visit ACID2000
Home Page at http://aoleg.hypermart.net/ ; see Order.txt for more
details on registration) or uninstall the program.
It will not cease functionality on expiration of evaluation period -
that is your responsibility to register. Instead the program does not allow you
to hide the main window on startup - if you want the program to go in tray,
you have to close this window by hand. There is no such limitation in the
registered version.
In an evaluation version you are limited with 3 identities. In the registered
version you can maintain unlimited number of identities.

8)  Distribution

The program is freely distributable unless it is not modified in any way,
all files are preserved and you do not distribute your registration license.

9)  Registering

See Order.txt for registration details and pricing.
