New
To create a new font from scatch, click New on the File menu, and then select an appropriate type of font. Unicode for normal fonts and symbol when you want to create a special kind of font which inlcude symbols, sighn signatures etc...

Open
Installed Font: Choose File| Open ‘Installed Font’ to display the Open installed dialog box. select an installed font and press ‘OK’ or double-click to open the selected font.

Existing Font: Choose File| Open ‘Font File’ to display the Open dialog box. Use the Open dialog box to select an existing font. Double-click the font name or click Open to open the selected font.

Tip: to open a font you've recently used, choose File| Reopen to display the names of the ten fonts you last used. Click font you want to use.

Warning: if you want to open fonts which are located in the Windows fonts folder, you should use the ‘Installed Fonts’ instead of using the regular way to open fonts.

Save
To save an active font you choose File| Save. To save more than one active font at once, you choose File| Save All. If you want to save the active font with a different name or in a different location, you choose File| Save As to display the Save As dialog box. Choose location and click Save.

Warning: it is not recommended to save your font in Windows font folder.

Close
To close the current font file, click corresponding (Close)button at the toolbar or choose File| Close. To close more than one active font at once, choose File| Close All.

Print
To print, click corresponding (Print)button at the toolbar or choose File| Print. You can print all or a selection. The dialog box shows what is being printed: how many pages and how many glyphs per page. Click ‘OK’.

Exit
To leave the Font Creator Program, simply choose File| Exit.

Undo
To undo the most recent action, choose Edit| Undo or click the arrow next to the undo button to see a list of the most recent actions you can undo. Select the action you want to undo. If you don't see the action, scroll through the list. When you undo an action, you also undo all actions above it in the list.

Warning: not all changes can be undone properly.

Redo
If you decide you didn't want to undo an action, choose Edit| Redo or click the arrow next to the redo button to see a list of the most recent actions. If you don't see the action, scroll through the list. When you redo an action, you also redo all actions above it in the list.

Repeat
Repeat the last operation. On the Edit menu, click Repeat or click the repeat button at the toolbar.This function will be disabled if you cannot repeat the last action.
Cut
Edit| Cut puts the selected information on the Windows Clipboard. Cut replaces the current Clipboard contents.

Copy
Choose Edit| Copy to copy the selected information on the Windows Clipboard.

Paste
Edit| Paste to paste information from the Windows Clipboard.

Options
Edit| Options, Preferences dialog box with four tables/sheets: General, View, Edit and Save.

You change most of the Font Creator Program's settings from the Options Preferences Dialog Box. You access the dialog box by selecting Edit| Options.

General: Windows Font folder which enables you to choose a font; Font association enables you to do or don’t associate the FCP with True Type Font Files.

View: Font overview and Samples Toolbar shows and enables you to change current width, heigth and size of the glyphs. The Samples Toolbar

Edit: Lets you change the way drawing contours behaves while moving them on screen. Also the amount of memory that is used by the undo and redo functionality can be minimized. When set to zero it means they have unlimited memory and unlimited number of undos/ redos.

Save: Here are the backup selections. ~bk will only be created if it doesn't exist already. Whenever you decide you want to get back to the original font, this file is the one you need. The ~tf font is created when you save your font.

With the drawing toolbar that is enabled when working on a simple glyph, you can easily change some settings that enable you to modify the contours and points.

The transform toolbar lets you easily perform some operations on both contours and points.

The sample toolbar is a powerfull way of adding some contours you want to use a lot in fonts or in glyhs. You can change the samples by making a special samples font which inlcudes your own samples. From the menu you go to Edit->Options... and go to the view page. Here you can select any font filename to be used in the samples toolbar.
